Dave the modules came today. Maybe it was untrackable because it was so quick! I didn't sign for it (as they just left it) FYI. I can't wait to get building. Now on to an appropriate heatsink and host....

Very nice to hear with the problems with the tracking system. :)

I was afraid that they were going to end up back here :(

Have fun!

Peace,
dave

Guess that fast shipping expands to the UK, got mine and been just about a week!

But i have a question or two before i break my lovely module:
I realise i need a heatsink, and intend to get one - but i have used it for a few seconds and once for even maybe as long as a minute, so my question is have i damaged my laser by using it in this way? It is still working, just wanted to see if something may have happened. I've developed a sort of paranoia over it, so won't be using it again until i do get a heatsink :S

Also, the pot is set to the correct current isn't it?

Glad to see it made it. You realize that it MUST be heat sinked AND limited to how long it is burned to limit the heat build-up so I won't harp strongly here.

Reds are pretty hardy. We don't see the kind of slow degradation like in the violets as much. Usually they are "on or off." You most likely did NOT do any damage to it from the short runs you gave it. Now, build it into a proper host and enjoy it ;)

Peace,
dave

200mw's of blu-ray will burn like crazy! It is focusable, and will burn things very close and very far away(ive lit matches from 20' away with a 100mw blu-ray) and unlike a red laser it will burn white and lighter color objects too!

Dang! Ok, its really got me thinking now... How much will a NICE heatsink/ host combo cost me? should I contact jayrob for that? I'll send him a pm... could I possibly reserve one for now?

The 3405 (or 4171) host/heatsink combo is $38 dollars plus $6 dollars shipping...

Makes for an easy build with Dave's pre-build modules! :)
