Anyway, after reading and seeing how you package them, i'm now comforted and feel confident they'll make it.. The tiny plactic boxes are a nice touch! ;)

Thanks! Looking forward to receiving them!

P.S. I just don't understand, how you can make this worth it for you.. Are you somehow getting them at $10? ;)
Just kidding.. It's none of my business. It's a good price compared to what i would have to pay here. I can almost get two for one!

I want to do it so that people wouldn’t bother to buy brand new drive to harvest the Diode. [smiley=evil.gif] It is fun to do a few at a time, but when I tried to do 20+ at once, I get impatient at the end and broke one of the Diode while trying to get it out of the heatsink. :'(

It took about 10 minutes each. I recommend not doing too many at once, you can easily become impatient toward and break something. :'(

Good luck with your harvest. :D

the foil connects the pins to stop static.

its OPEN CAN you have to be careful with the head. a drop of solder is a better bet.

Re: FS: "Long Die Open Can" Diodes

He has sold dozens of these things, and harvested them all from drives by hand.  I'm sure he knows you have to be careful with the die and the little wires, it's not news.  I'm even willing to bet he does the packaging that he thinks will BEST protect the diode during shipping.  The aluminum foil will certainly protect from any static, and if wrapped carefully the right way, it would not touch the die unless something small/sharp/pointy was pushing it into the die, in which case whatever was pushing the Al in would have done more damage than the foil itself.

Plus, he said on the first page that the diode would be packaged in tin foil, when IgorT asked about it.
