Great news! You can probably use these batteries http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3273 they will provide around 4,2 volts fully charged and will over drive the diode slightly producing a few more milliwatts of power. It shouldn't damage it but may shorten its life (instead of 10 years of use, maybe 5...who really knows). You could email laserGlow and ask them if using the rechargeable CR123's will make a difference. If you do buy the batteries from DX, don't forget to pick up a charger like this http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1251 you may find a cheaper one, but I personally know this one works well. Enjoy the laser and forgive me if I have caused you to want more lasers...especially more powerful ones. It is a terribly expensive disease ;)
