Bad temper = Bad business. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. The $22 cash an hour you are making is not that bad. More like $35 an hour if you were paying taxes. And you should take your own advice about having nothing nice to say. To some people $30 is a days pay. Obviously not for you though because that's what you are making in an hour, (probably more with your other job) and why you cant understand why someone would say that.

And stop guilt tripping people with the donation. Why not donate half your profit if you want use that angle.[/quote]


I definitely have to agree with TJ on this one.. After watching this thread, all I can say is abrasiveness seems to work really well at running people off. We all like LPF and c0ldshadow and would love to help them out, and so it is sad that this sale didn't work out, but blasting people for asking questions that you consider to be bad questions is no way to make a sale. Even though you didn't say anything to me personally, I'd have a hard time buying from you since reading some of your answers pissed me off a little, frankly. In the future, you should try to remember being friendly pays when it comes to marketing yourself and your product.[/quote]

"  He did not ask "why is it so expensive"  he just made a stupid statement.  Which is offensive to me and my efforts (and if you think about it, you too would be offended).  I was merely protecting my integrity by my follow up statement.  It was a tad abrasive possibly.  But rangedunits did not justify his opinion he merely slandered my post.  Should you choose to not purchase items from me because of my personality that would be unfortunate because I have something to offer of value.  I am friendly to everyone who is friendly to me.

Im not hysterical, dont smoke blunts, but you need to think in the future what statements you make might affect others impressions of you. Fact - it was a stupid statement, if you would ask a logical question you would get a civilized answer. Making a stupid statement with no justifications opens you wide up for ridicule.

This is one hell of a long thread. But I did get two orders and LPF made $10.00 so thank you to those who supported the forum and me (as said in my first post and my first sentence) I pay when orders are paid and items are shipped.

Lasermans a nice guy once you get to know him, he's a good member at PL.

answer this one question...In your opinion...would it be alright for me to go to Jayrobs BST for a 100 dollar pointer listing and my only statement to be... "100.00 is too expensive for that". And I guess a follow up question would be...how do you think that would make Jayrob feel.

How it would make Jayrob feel is irrelevant. Jayrob is professional enough to understand that regardless of how he interprets a question, in the interest of good business a professional, courteous response is necessary. If you're confused about a question, just ask the person to elaborate. If you feel the question is rude or condescending, professionalism dictates that you should either decline to comment, or answer in a courteous manner. The customer is not obligated to be professional. You as the salesperson are.

There are many people who watch this forum. If they are like me, they get an idea about a person's personality from watching what they post. I won't do business with people who potentially may be unprofessional. Based on your posts, you seem like you might be unprofessional. It's all about making a good impression.

Everything I said here is moot if you're just posting to talk or share opinions. If you're posting for business purposes, however, impressions are everything.

I gotta say I'm backing laserman 100% on this one. There is a huge problem on this board with people thinking that if you make a few bucks on something you are ripping people off, or that a product shouldn't cost any more than materials price.

If you think it costs too much, don't buy it. Its really easy people. No need to comment, just don't buy it.

I don't call coherent just to let them know their lasers are too expensive (when the fact is that I just can't afford them)

My issue has nothing to do with the cost of his item, rather it has to do with his attitude. I have every respect for his skills, but none for the way he's responded to these types of questions here. There are many other ways that he could have handled this, but instead he decided to go and post angry, unprofessional responses. Upon being confronted, he lost his cool completely and proceeded to post nearly unintelligible, hysterical responses. All I've been trying to say is that in business (no matter how small) it pays to know how to handle difficult questions without going off the deep end. Laserman532 went off the deep end, and there's no excuse for it. His responses were unnecessarily rude, and will prevent me (and hopefully others) from even considering buying anything from him in the future. In a way, I'm glad he showed his true colors before any purchase was made on my part..

If you were to call Coherent and question their prices, I'm sure you wouldn't get a response back like what we've seen here.

*shaking head*  That is not what is in question. The handling of the comment was. I've been in stores many times and asked why things cost so much. The salesman then answers in a civil manner why. If the salesperson acted like Laserman did I would never step foot in his store ever again and tell everyone about my experience. It doesn't take genius to agree with this.  I wonder what your reaction would be if a salesperson said "the world does not justify value by what you think, and you have no class and to just STFU". Or maybe you like being belittled by salespeople, who knows.
