Update:
No more Kryton barrels left until the new GB, but if you have an existing Kryton, and would like to do a green modification, keep reading! :D

Kenom has (had) a few Kryton Groove barrels left to get rid of...

So, while they last, I will offer these nice kits for Green modules! :)

The kit includes:

* Kryton Groove barrel and parts. (modified for fitting a green module)
* Heatsink with set screw and o-ring.

The green modules are here for the specs on them:
50mW: http://o-like.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=18
100mW: http://o-like.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=16
150mW: http://o-like.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=17

The assembly is very simple, and will only take a minute!

(150mW Beam shot - no smoke or fog)

Note: The barrel modification does not in any way change it's ability to be used for a future red or blu-ray build if ever desired! ;)

Tips:

* You will need a module, a battery, and a 1.5mm Allen wrench for the set screw.
* I recommend using a small amount of dielectric tune up grease for a better connection where the heatsink will touch the inside of the barrel. This is your positive contact point.
* After you slide the module/heatsink in place, tuck the included o-ring down and against the heatsink as shown. This will keep the assembly from wanting to slide out when changing or charging your battery.
* You will need to cut the tail cap spring some. This is an easy thing to do. Then just re-shape the tip of the spring with some needle nose pliers.
* Battery orientation is case positive. (positive end towards tail cap)
* You can use either a 3.0 volt Lithium primary (CR123), or a 3.6 volt rechargeable battery. (RCR123) The 3.6 volt battery gives max power, but the 3.0 volt battery is recommended for a longer module life.

* Kit price - $79 plus shipping... (shipping and handling - $6 dollars. This covers my packaging and PayPal fees as well)
* Please read my shipping policy here!

You already have a Kryton barrel?
If you already have a Kryton barrel (1st run or Groove), just send me the center section. The barrel...

Then I can drill it out for fitting the module, and make a heatsink with a set screw, and include the proper sized o-ring as well! :)

For this, I will charge $29 dollars plus $5 dollars for return shipping...
(I have packaging costs and PayPal fees build into my shipping charge)

Oh my god, that's sexy. If I had money right now I'd totally buy one.

Will you make these available any time in the future? I'm planning a green build with one of suzies modules, and this would be a beautiful way to house it.

Excellent host!

Dust cap, switch, everything in the first picture is included with the kit...

I have some various colors of the front dust caps and silicone tail button caps, so you will have a choice of colors there.

As long a Kenom has these barrels available, I will make the kits available. So, get them while they last! ;)

I have on hand, one Kryton Groove barrel, and two first run barrels. (same set up, just no groves and a smooth head)

It would be fantastic if you could make an assembly video so if I actually do purchase one of these I could know exactly how to put it together. I am interested in this, if I can scrounge up some money I would love one.

so, jayrob, can you post some pics of this laser with the green module outside in the dark? and inside with full view of host in hand? thanks

Re: FS: Kryton Groovy Green Kit! While they last..

pseudonyms, it is so easy to assemble, that a video would not be needed. Just look at the pictures on the first post! :)

Sword, here are some pictures of my 1st run Kryton build, which is the exact same thing. It is a 100mW module that is over powered to about 150mW's.

You want a light saber? put a 100mW module in there (or even a 50mW module), and you will have a giant light saber that reaches out into the night sky! ;)

(No smoke or fog)

How much to turn one of my grooves into a green conversion?

Peace,

Jay, what else would I need to use this as a host for one of Dave's PHR modules? Thanks, Bill

I have a few barrels on the way. As soon as they get here I'll get one off to you. Instead of a matched set of two, I'm thinking a triad would be cool :)

For a blu-ray build, I personally like the FlexDrive. This is perfect for a blu-ray or a red using the Kryton Groove and an 18650 battery. The diode would press directly into the Kryton head, which is threaded at the aperture for an AixiZ lens nut! :)

It's just a matter of mounting the driver. Here is a picture of a commonly used way to do so:
803T-1.jpg

This method uses the barrel for the negative path to the driver, by connecting the diode case pin, to the diode negative pin, and then the diode connects to the driver negative. (this is all that is needed for a FlexDrive - both negatives on the Flexdrive are continuos) For an 18650 supply, the silicon diode is not needed. This is only needed for 2 X 3.0 volt batteries to drop voltage. Because the FlexDrive is rated for a max voltage supply of 5.5 volts.

With a red diode, the diode case pin is already the negative pin, so the negative connection from the battery (host), is made to the driver via the diode connection...

Nothing fancy, it's an Olympus C-8080 digital camera.

The key to the shot, is using a tripod. ;) The camera was set on auto-exposure, so the exposure was a few seconds. That's why it captured the beam so good.

This picture is pretty realistic. Notice the stars. That's the same as it looks to the naked eye! :)
