Re: FS: Jibs Linear Drivers - 500mA, 1.3-1.6A, 1.8A

What if I were to order a whole batch? like ~10

I take bribes ... lol, jk. Do you have a time frame? I don't foresee having to order anything in the next couple of weeks.

EXACTLY!! aside from lasers I have a good time building ssc p7's and XML T and U bins. If you make your driver the standard 17mm diamter, then to hell with cheap chinese crap, all my 800-1000 lumen lights will be powered with jib drives.

Uh oh, its 17.78mm (0.70") as it is right now ... I don't think I can get it much smaller and keep the battery contact on the bottom layer. :(

Re: FS: Jibs Linear Drivers - 500mA, 1.3-1.6A, 1.8A

Didnt go to well... with 2 fresh cr123 batteries i only get about 2mw out of a 12x diode Oo

i did use a testload to see the current it was around 480/500ma so that should be fine.. i didnt check the voltage though, should try that later.

unfortunatly i dont have any other driver to check the 12x diode with

So now im wondering if its my driver or my diode... both seem to be fine but together the dont do what they should do:thinking:

any suggestions?

if i find out something ill let you know

Hmmm ... What is the voltage on the cells under load? It may be that there is not enough overhead for the driver to go into regulation. You need at least ~7.3V minimum combined Vin to supply the 6V the 12x needs.

Vin was 8,15V i will test it some more later, the driver got pretty hot pretty fast to on the resistor side

Oh yeah, it should be working, and only dropping around 2V it should not be getting to terribly hot, it may be going into thermal shutdown. If I have time today, ill drop by my office and run one with the PSU and find the exact dropout for 6V/500mA.

K cool :)

It got like "hot" in about 5sec and after.that like really hot

Well jib I may need about 10 more 444mA ones in about a month +/- 2 weeks.

aww thats a shame...well if the outside ring used for the negative input (like most round pcbs use) isnt so thin, you think it could just be filed down to about 17.3mm or so. That would make it small enough for a tight press fit into a pill.

Temporarily out of 500mA ... Have parts, just need a few days to put some together. Ill update as soon as I get them built.

I got it to fit in 17mm, prototype ordered. :)

Hey jib... So if I were to order a a batch ~10 of custom drivers, would you be able to make them to me?

no. it wont be able to handle 1.8A..

Re: FS: Jibs Linear Drivers - 500mA, 1.3-1.6A, 1.8A

^^^ Correct ... I made the design as simple as possible to keep costs low. So I'm going to have to rely on changing set resistors. The nice thing about these is that they have settable over-voltage protection ... so if you don't want the driver to ever go above say 5V, just just set the over-voltage pin via a voltage divider for 5V. :)

Are you talking about the 444mA's or are these going to be different?
