Alright guys I've got a pile of greenie "dud"s stacking up in my room... I planned on doing my own sorts of sadistic tearing aparts/experiments on them but haven't gotten around to it so I'm going to throw them up on here for you guys to pick at if you want!

These are the rejects -- the lasers who either were not given a chance at a home (because I tested them and was unsatisfied) or were returned from their home. Most output between the 1 and 10mW range ;)

$5 a pop including shipping. No international offered for these guys. I've got around 10 of them so shoot me a PM if you're interested!

They're just the regular pen hosts. Nothing special!

Not to be mean or anything, but why pay $5 for a pen pointer that has crappy known output, when you can get a luck of the draw one from eBay for $4.87? (eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices)

I know, it's sort of frugal, but at least you have a chance of getting decent output from eBay.

Thanks ;)

I'd also say, you would be getting it WAY faster from me than from Hong Kong, you'd have no hurt expectations, and some people might actually want a regular "pointer" that doesn't burn your eyes out (i.e., true 5mW)!!

I guess that's true Swim, I didn't think of that.

And I hope you didn't think I was trying to bash you or anything. :D

For sure no worries :)

Are the pointers pretty stable? or do they mode hop?

Most of them are pretty shitty-ly stable ;) a few do the whole.. super bright then dim instantly to around 5mW. One of them mode hops like crazy haha almost like a strobe light :p

How many (if any) do you have that are truly <5mW? I could really use those. (it can't jump up past 5mW for a significant amount of time though.)

I've been doing presentations on amateur (radio) laser communication equipment for months now and I always end in a laser safety mini-class. There has been a ton of interest in lasers generated from this and at every event I'm always asked (after the safety class) what a safe laser looks like. It would be pretty cool to give away a few true <5mW ones to the more enthusiastic attendees.

I could probably find a few that are right around 5mW. I'm testing these with a LaserBee and around 5mW I feel like it's not totally 100% accurate but I can try to find a few that don't register ;) (i.e., around 2-3mW).
