Here is a compact very tightly designed host.

It is 4.5"x .875" and made from 6061 aluminum. It uses one 18650 battery and has a pocket to press fit the diode into. The pocket for the driver is .625"x.4" and easily fits a flexdrive v4 which i designed it for. It is also threaded for a standard lens housing (m9x.5). I tried to make this host have good heatsinking and be very compact.
The Pictures below are of anodized Aluminum which is how the host comes.

*******8/1/09 UPDATE
Added a picture with a kryton next to it for size comparison, just to show how small this host is while still using a nice sized battery heatsink. Price drop!!!!!

Basic Style(Pictured below)

---------------$50 +shipping---------------

Here is everything included starting front to back.
*Focus ring(threaded for m9x.5), same diameter as the rest of body for easy focusing, just screw on standard lens assembly.
*Heatsink, It has a pocket to press fit a 5.6mm diode directly into it with a 45 degree chamfer to help with press fitting. The diode presses into the heatsink in the middle of the heatsink to help distribute heat better. You will need a special piece to press fit the diode since it is recessed into the heatsink but I will include that at no extra charge. The driver pocket is also milled into the heatsink for compact design.
*Press fit tool, just a piece of aluminum turned and drilled to the correct diameter to help press fit the diode
*Battery tube, holds one 18650 or two cr123s.
*Tailcap, comes with clicky on-off switch from deal extreme installed. These are the gold plated one to allow better connectivity.
*Excellent customer Service, I spend a couple of hours a day on LPF and check my email/messages many times a day. I won't over promise anything, and I will stay in contact with anyone I am doing business with. I don't have a lot of rep or a high post count but I will get that built up over time.

Add on options

**** $15 Aixiz 405 coated glass lens (what I paid for them)

**** $45 AR coated glass lens, I get these lenses from LarryDFW and I make the brass housings. He assembles them all together and lives very close to me. I can pick up an assembly from him and include it with your host order.

Sounds good to me. Great host, best battery, top lens.

Better heatsinkling is required for hi-power 6X & 8X builds.

I can't wait to see your design in person.

Can't wait to see the pictures!
Edit: Holy cow it looks sweet! Similar to the kryton as everyone else pointed out but I like it.

oooh, I wonder if my laser that Darkarmyofone is building for me would be even better in that host... :)

What do you expect it to look like? A toaster? Its a laser. The kryton is an excellent design. I didn't copy it but these hosts both do the same thing so they have to look similar. Also the Kryton is not customizable for little or no charge.

Sorry i should have elaborated, everyone loves the kryton, i was just saying that these look the same. I should have said it a different way. Either way is a good looking host

Oh okay, I thought you were saying I was copy catting the kryton. Interpreting text can be misleading.
Well thanks everyone for the comments so far. I have two orders placed also.

Looks like a nice Host but I think I'm just getting the Kryton beast for it's size and heatsink.

For your size it looks great

Yeah this is made to be small and compact. I haven't felt any heat so far from the heatsink. It hasn't even been warm and I'm running a 8x diode pushing ~380mA with 1:30 duty cycles, so I would assume this host has very good efficiency for heatsinking.

Mr Willing what your output in mw @ 380ma, what diode and driver are you using?

*edit** I see the driver type but do you have an output power ?

Arenared;

The 8X should be outputting ~480mw @380ma,
based on the power meter tests I did on the same diode.

Not too shabby , im thinking of running one @ 400ma and another at 380ma. Im a bit "scared" to do the 400ma one because these 8x's dont have any life tests on them already. . . and it could be good for 4 hours etc.. or 4 minutes..

mine are the panasonic diodes like yours Larry and not the BDR-203 like MrWilling's, but some diodes are off the charts at low ma and some are of low mw at low ma.
