Re: FS: Collection

I'll eat up PP fees.

Well, turns out my parents shut the door to my room and had the heat off. Most of my batteries are disagreeing with any current draw. 593.5nm not complying at all right now :p

Got this from the 589-- gonna recharge batts and take a second one later.

The carcass no longer is with us. But, you reminded me I do have a kryton groove sitting around.

Edit: Just went through a full duty cycle with the 593.5-- did not get picked up at all by the laserbee.

Re: FS: Collection

I'd love the 561 or the 589, but I have no money :p good luck raffle, sorry to hear you're leaving the hobby. keep in touch though.

Also if someone wants me to fix, or provide a how-to on how to fix the PGL-III-C tailcaps, I'll be happy to help they buyer do repairs on them to make them like new again.

Re: FS: Collection

I don't think my tailcap is fixable :(

what's wrong with it? no connection? I've fixed a quite a few of them. theyre not designed to be taken apart, so if you do they often break unless you know how to fix them. they're rather crappily made.

Re: FS: Collection

Honestly from what I see with the 589, whoever buys it should extract the module and have a new host made. It will make it very unique and you can fix the splash and tailcap issues. The worst part about CNI units is that they put such nice modules in such shitty hosts.

Re: FS: Collection

Keeping an eye on this thread. I may chime in later for the Argon, but not ready to commit. There are some good deals here... good luck with the sale. I know it must be tough, but look at how fresh and new all the light will be if you swing back around to a new collection. :)

Cheers,

Re: FS: Collection

An Argon, in my humble opinion, is worth 20 times that of a green HeNe. I LOVE my argon. More than any other laser I have ever owned. Anybody who buys an Argon will be pleased. I have never owned a single line Argon, but ML Argon will not be leaving my possession.

Re: FS: Collection HUGE PRICE DROPS

thought I'd give an update on the state of play re: rigel and give Z a free bump.

According to the information I am given Rigel was posted on Monday morning the 24th of February, insured for the full value. The tracking number given yields little information (and I am not yet in possession of the laser) and attempts to remain positive are rapidly fading for reasons I will explain in the following paragraphs.

Tracking states "acceptance" on Tuesday morning the 25th of February, a little travelling and then departure from Chicago at 1AM on the morning of the 28th of February. Unfortunately the trail dries up at that point and ParcelForce (the co. who pick up USPS post on the UK end) shows nothing for this tracking number whatsoever.

There are a number of points which give a possible cause for concern, and I will outline them here:-
-Acceptance was a day after the stated postage date, so the parcel either sat in the post office an entire 24 hours before being noticed, or it was posted a day late. I can forgive something like this but a message to say postage had been delayed would have been nice.

-There is no mention of any insurance level or delivery confirmation for this package on the USPS website and states "postal product: first class package international service", "features: international letter". Now, I've googled, and it appears that this type of package is applicable for items up to $400, but only allows cover for up to $45.59. - LINK.

This came to my attention because I have ordered a pair of ARG goggles from a company in Oregon worth $100 and the very same USPS page for its tracking number clearly states the insured value up to $100, with the postage method "priority mail express international", which, according to USPS does insure against losses of up to $200 for Merchandise - LINK.

It is therefore so that I have to ask the question uncomfortably: Was this package indeed properly insured as we agreed via PM up to its full value, i.e., $200, a service which I agreed to pay you an extra $13 for (and duly did)?

My growing concern stems from the fact that other packages I have ordered from the USA at a similar or later time have now surpassed the Rigel's delivery speed substantially; and that it appears the package may not have been insured and subsequently there is a good chance I may now be out of pocket where I needn't have been if the package was insured.

If there is one big misunderstanding I will be more than happy to hear the explanation...

Re: FS: Collection HUGE PRICE DROPS

I've had stuff like this happen. It's probably sitting somewhere. If customs took it you'll get a notice.

Re: FS: Collection HUGE PRICE DROPS

If customs took it then they have done so outside their remit of the law. Companies like LaserGlow will happily ship lasers here - our customs don't cover lasers.

My main issue is with the method that the package was sent, as I asked for it to be insured (and was told it would be) and all the evidence I can see says that it wasn't...

Yeah I know what you mean, but only Zraffle can chime in on that since he sent it...

Re: FS: Collection HUGE PRICE DROPS

I was quite interested on the 589nm but TBH the LPM run was a bit low for those models, specially considering the tailcap issue and that the price is very close to a new one on a GB... Have you tried another run yet?
