I recently aquired a nice CNC machine for my shop. The machine is capable of 4 axis milling with accuracy of 1/1000th of an inch.
Projects that can be made on this machine include:
PCB etching 1 or 2 sided
engraving
custom heat sinks
custom hosts
small parts
cut plates (signs, letters, shapes)

Just about anything you can imagine.

I work with wood, acrylics, and aluminum and other soft metals.

If anyone is interested contact me for prices on a project by project basis.
I also offer drafting services if you need something designed and built from scratch.

I have an acrylic project i'm working on now, i'll post some pics when i'm done.
Waiting on a foot of 3" dia rod to show up at my door, but i should have some pics of it after christmas.
Machining aluminum parts for it today.

Expect to see some laser stuff and PCBs in the next few weeks also.

What material do you want this in andy_con?

I'm guessing aluminum.

I also need a thickness for the second part, only 10mm x 10mm is given.
Is the cut at the base of the groove a circle with d4mm, or some other arc?

Oooo... This looks good,

Is it possible to have hosts cut out on this? Only issue I can see is that curves seem quite crude, would it be possible to get a nicer finish on it?

I have a few designs of interest, how large a work-bed do you have? I might be interested in copper plate, clear perspex or Delrin up to 1in by 6 in by 10in, aluminium plate about laptop-size (19in diagonal around 16:10 ratio, 2in deep), or aluminium turning up to about a foot long, 30mm diameter. Would you be able to ship parts like this to the UK at a reasonable price? Also, can you give any estimates of material/machine costs for work like this?

I use deskCNC for my CAM and control software.

Machine size is:
5" verticle
14x28" bed.

4 axis i can do ~3" round.

with regards to the cuts, that is only the rough pass and only in the X direction. A second pass with a smaller bit in the Y direction would smooth it out. Some sanding helps too. As it stands, my camera also picks up the rough angles a bit more than what is obvious. It is pretty smooth to the touch.

RE: hosts, I have a very special project I am working on. I'll have something to show in a week or so.

also, regarding the faceting. The facet resolution i used to make the part in the pic was .5, i can go up to 10 which would result in no faceting. I'll be doing this for the acrylic piece i am working on now to show the difference. The acrylic will also be getting a second pass.

The higher resolution files are about 10 times the size.
