FS: Auction - Pair: (445nm 1,200mW) and (405nm 650mW)

I bought Eagle Pair, 2 sets. I was reading that they were pretty nice. Yea, I know. $300 is probably low for this hobby. Way low... but I have to learn, so starting slow is probably good.

I'm going to jump in here for a second and add two notes -

- Bidding increments should be $5, to keep things *sane*

- Since we're above the $300 mark, I'm now including that 3rd laser for free. It just occurred to me that a lot of people don't have safety glasses for RED lasers, just for blue/violet/green. This is a strong enough RED laser, that you need glasses. I don't feel good about including a free laser that people aren't likely to have safety glasses for already. So I'm going to include a pair of 650nm safety glasses for the winning bidder, unless you already have some. (and since these are my only pair right now, please let me know if you don't actually need them. they're not valuable, just the $8 simple eBay ones, but they're better than nothing and should be fine for 275mw RED)

rhd and bhwollen what you are doing is a shame ! Not really nice to work together just to push the bidding up. This is exactly what you are doing.

Lol Dawinzi, BH's bids were legit. I've sold him a laser before, I have zero doubt in the his follow through if he wins. He has bought from a number of people here, and sold to a few too.
I know that he doesn't have a 405nm laser, and I think his logic was that if he could win this auction, he'd keep the 605, 405, and re-sell the 445 to defray the cost. At least I think that's why he explained to me wanting to bid. Lord knows he doesn't need more hotlights just for the heck of it

rhd is right about that, my thought was $300 for a 405, 445, and 605? I'll try it. And if I win, great, but if I loose someone got a good set of lasers.

I can understand that it looks bad on the surface that I've said nice things about your sales threads on occasion, and then you've bid on mine. But you were also one of the first people I sold a laser to on these forums And in terms of saying positive things about other people's auctions, it really sucks if it becomes necessary to forgo that in fear of looking unethical. I think I'd rather just not sell stuff on these boards if that becomes the case, but retain the ability to chime in freely where something pops into mind.

Like here. Stevedezie is selling something that looks great, is similar to what I'm looking to sell here, and may appeal to some people MORE if they just want and individual laser. I commented there with some tips for how Steve could improve his listing and get better sale prospects. That doesn't *feel* like the wrong thing to have done, it feels like the right thing to have done. But I suppose if Steve came and bid on this auction, it would look like impropriety. (FTR, I don't think he has any intention to!) - but does that make sense?

Maybe the solution is that Auctions are just a bad idea? Because the reality is, this is a small community relative to eeekBay where the model works. I think it's inevitable that there would be cross-interest here. Given the nature of an auction, how the heck would that work without looking improper.

I'm sort of starting to give up on this community as far as drama, negativity, and jumping to bad intentions as a default assumption goes.

At any rate, the auction goes on for now. I'm fine with adding the restriction that you can't place a bid if I've ever said something positive about one of your sales threads. I think that's silly. But perhaps it's necessary.
