Re: FS: 70mW+ 405nm Blue-Violet Burning "BR"Laser

Im even more excited now murudai. Post some pics and vids if you have the time. That would be lovley ;D My tracking says it has left San Fransisco. So i guess it will be here is 3 days ish. Then I go away for a weekend break. So i will have to wait the unbearable 3 days to come home and get it. Hehe. I cant tell how big it is by the coin picture becuase ive never seen american coins and i dont know how big they are. :) I will take your word murudai on how small and elegant it is.
I cant wait!
Its that feeling when you know you have a laser comming. I have 2 comming. This and a DX200mW Red. :)

Overall, this is a good quality blu-ray that feels like it will last. The fact that it is box style only adds to its charm. Gives it character, not like all those typical 'pointer' lasers :)
Yea, 'pointer' lasers are like, yesterday and like, so common. ;)

Does 81x38x23 mm sound better. :)

I'm interested but I can't send PM's until 10 posts. Can you try to send me one or an email to jake<>nuclearnova.com? Also, you said you can set the power, I want this thing to last so is 70mW a good setting? Higher, Lower?

Yea, I think 70mW is a comparable power output. The current would be about 90mA.

On a side note, I've received my power meter a few days ago and had a quick chance to measure the output. They vary a little bit, but at 90mA a cold start reads about 66mW. Once it warms up it goes up to about 73mW or so. I adjusted one to about 95mA and read 69mW cold and 81mW heated. Interesting how the power rises when it heats up. I always thought laser power output went down while in use. :-/

nuclearnova, just post 5 posts in a row, total spam.

I don't think anyone would seriously care, since it is so you can PM to buy something :) That is a perfectly good reason in my books.

Re: FS: 70mW+ 405nm Blue-Violet Burning "BR"Laser

After my trip from Texas next week, I am going to get one of these. This will be my first burning laser! And do you have an average life span on these that you could guess?? Or is that dependant on the mW you set it to?? And if so, what would be the ideal range to set it at?

No one's really sure of the life, but I think it depends somewhat on how hard you drive it. Some people had good success with over a week of 90mA. Others set them to 100mA. Someone had one die when set to 120mA. But I guess it's all relative to the quality of the diode. Most say to not go over 100mA. Of course I'm talking about the mA drive, not the mW output power. I've had an output of about 86mW with a drive of 93.4mA on one.

Do you mean running it strait for a week, or using it on/off every once and a while for a week? I was expecting it to work long enough that I would probably lose the thing before it burns out... I hope they aren't just expected to die in a short time like that

Re: FS: 70mW+ 405nm Blue-Violet Burning "BR"Laser

Hey guys. I think these are such great lasers that no one should be denied them. Especially because of some 'imports laws' or anything.

So if anyone from Australia is keen on one of these lasers but can't raise the funding before the imports ban goes in to effect, send me a PM and we might be able to work something out :)

EDIT: In fact, check out this thread: http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1212673883

I've heard he ran it straight/constant for a week+. The + because I haven't kept track of his progress after a week.
