I am a bit confused. You say the diode is an M140 pressed in with leads attached. What is the M140 diode pressed in to? Is the diode pressed directly into the heatsink? or perhaps an aixiz module? maybe a copper module?
Also what current is the laser being driven at?

I think its probably pressed in a standard aixiz module. DTR offers the diode pressed in an aixiz module with leads attached on his site.

someone buys your laser on ebay, then blinds their self... They can sue you if they wanted, saying you didn't tell them how dangerous it was or that they needed safety glasses to use it. Just look thru all the strong lasers for sale on ebay, they all have a disclaimer at the bottom.

Thanks.

Would you be able to remove the diode and post in 2 different packages? (for legal purposes)

Australia... It's legal for us to buy components individually, but not as a whole handheld unit... ie... the diode assembly would need to be sent separately.
