for sale today is a pioneer bdr-203 8x diode in a pocket mini host powered by a flexdrive and 1x rcr123a battery. it outputs ~400mw with a 405 g-1 lens mod. i originally bought this a while back to use in a scanner. it seems that my scanner project is on hold for now and i could use the money so i have to sell it. i am looking to sell this as a package deal with a charger, 2x batteries, and some uranium glass marbles. asking price is 400$ for the package. pm or post if you have any questions!

400 mw?? Dang if only I had the money. What's the duty cycle on something like that? Does it heat up much? I know with my red LOC build, I have the driver set to 400 ma so it gets pretty hot (the driver, not the host), but it seems that these high powered BR diodes operate with greater efficiency.

i would still limit the duty cycle to ~1min on and 30sec-1min off just to make sure not to overheat the diode. remember this is a 200$ diode and though its not completely over driven it will still generate a little heat. im not quite sure how much heat it generates b/c its only been used for testing so its only being ran for ~30sec or less at the time.

Can I see a picture of the unit next to your hand or a coin or something... I can't really gauge how big it is. Any idea on postage to Australia?

Thanks :)

hows that? ;) i can send it first class airmail for free or you can upgrade to priority intlernational for 10$ extra. first class may take a few weeks to get there and priority intl takes ~1 week to get there.

p.s. i can label it as a flashlight with a low value for customs so they wont know its a laser..

$400 dollars is a steal on that build! Parts alone are over $350 dollars. And Drew knows how to assemble a quality build, so that is a great price...

Just curious, what is the current set at? 300mA's?

yep. was gonna go to 365ma but i didnt want to push it too hard. :) had to keep the current low b/c of the limitations of the flexdrive.

If you're shipping it to Australia, I'd suggest sending the tailcap separately, they seem to be stricter on their imports than the US. Just my $0.02.

im fully aware of the regulations in AU. there is no "tail cap" on a pocket mini. you have to remove the head to change batteries. if an AU buyer is interested i can wrap the head and body seperately and also label it as a flashlight since it is a flashlight host.
