are they the cd burner diodes?
if they are, what could i do with those?

as stated they are the 808nm diodes

or 780nm diodes
not 650nm diodes

sorry for the confusion, but i recieved one today, and i have 2 diodes on it. one is gold, and the other is silver. I thought the gold one was the dvd burner diode, and the ones i am getting from you are the cd diodes.

Am i completely wrong?

I don't think you should be buying stuff if you don't exactly know what you're buying. These diodes are IR diodes which means you can't see the light coming out of them, you can get blinded very easily since IR doesn't even trigger your blink reflexes. So you won't know that you've done damage until everything goes black. :eek:
If you're going to be using them, then you absolutely need to get a pair of IR protection goggles, otherwise there's a very high chance you're going to damage your eyes.

i might be keeping them for a later date when i am more clued up. But now i realise just how dangerous they are, maybe i shouldn't be having them. If you can find someone else to have them, maybe that would be a good idea.
