I'm looking for someone who can slice the read portion of an Aixiz module in half. IE, cut off roughly 50% of it like so:

attachment.php

Precision is not necessary.
Consistency from module to module is not necessary.

I just basically want to send someone the 50 or so module backs I have on hand, and get them cut down to a more practical usable size, and shipped back to me. Quick and dirty is fine, as I have no specific application for these, but often find myself wishing I had backs that were a more practical size for builds.

Re: LF: Someone who can cut Aixiz backs in half.

Most people don't use them, they just use the front end, is there a purpose for the use of the back end ?

- Slightly better thermal conduction (more contact with the heatsink)
- In some cases, the physical constraints (set screw position, heatsink shape, pill area) make it desirable to have a slightly longer Aixiz module, yet wouldn't allow for the full rear casing.

I spin them in a drill and use a hacksaw and a file. Takes ~5 min.
Or you can stick it in a vice and use the hacksaw.
Oh yeah, and a little thermal adhesive or Arctic silver on the threads helps with the thermal conductivity.

I wonder if its aluminum, m not sure about the metal used but it should be nickel plated aluminum and once you scratch the nickel aluminum isnt too hard to cut.. you just file it all the way through and it shouldnt take too long..

Yep - I do have the ability to painfully cut them through, 5 minutes at a time, with a hacksaw.

I'm hoping that I can send 50 or so (that would take me 5 hours to cut in half), and someone can zip them all through a bandsaw or some other fancy tool that I don't have :)

Just putting it out there, you could probably put them through a jigsaw with aluminum blade attached (yes I know they are made of brass) and that would probably reduce the time to under 30 seconds each.

Lol - believe it or not, I am pretty crafty and creative sometimes ;)

With the tools I have on hand, and the space/time/money I'm willing to dedicate to new tools (that's not much right now), there's no efficient way to do what I'm trying to do. Otherwise, I would have - instead of seeking someone else to pay to do so ;)

No one doubted your abilities, just putting it out there :p

I wonder how hard they would be to cut with something like this:
Bench Top Cut Off Saw
If you need to do enough of them, it might be worth the $25.00 to try.

Lol, I appreciate the suggestions guys.

I've had the intention to find some way to efficiently cut these in half for a while, yet I never have. I'm a big believer in outsourcing things you can't do efficiently. I can't cut these in half efficiently, nor is having the tool to be able to do so something that I'm interested in. On the spectrum of projects I'm interested in tackling, getting a new tool to more effectively cut Aixiz backs is pretty low on my priority list ;) BUT, I know that for someone with the right tool, this would be no big deal.

A while back, I had Ray cut some in half for me for some per-module fee. I forget what he charged me. I sent him the modules, he cut them. That's sort of what I'm looking for.

At any rate, if someone is able to tackle this, PM me and let me know what you'd charge :)

Cheers

I just cut them off with a dremel. It takes a few seconds per.;)

What are you paying to do this.:eg:

I don't even have a dremel here ;)

I don't know - what should I be paying?
