I am working on a DIY red kit with everything needed to make your own 350mA hand held laser. I just wanted some feedback on my prototype before i go putting a bunch of time into making anymore.
Includes..
Host: the host in an LED Flashlight (pictured below)
Custom HeatSink: I will be machining custom heatsinks for the host. They will also have a pocket to securely hold the driver in place(i didnt do this on my prototype picture below).
Driver:AMC7135 350mA driver with a cap and in4001 diode added to driver.
Diode:22x DVD burner DIODE w/ Aixiz holder(with acrylic lens)
Batteries: They are just the ones included with the host so you WILL have to buy rechargeable batteries of your choice.
This unit feels nice and sturdy after the custom heatsink w/diode and custom spacers for the batteries are installed. I will be able to offer this package at about $40 plus actual shipping costs. So please offer any suggestions on this.

So I'm guessing you'd put the batteries in backwards, so that it's case positive (AMC3175). I always thought that that driver wasn't very stable, and so people never use it anymore. Can anyone enlighten me, cause I still have a 20pack myself and would maybe try them out sometime.

Also, is it that you can't put a cap at the input, or the output? (messes with regulation - I'm guessing you put a cap in parallel at the input?)

Nevermind, it was a Firefox problem. I can't tell the model of the flashlight, so I'll just say that I like clicky tailcaps, preferably with a momentary on. It looks very compact. I like it.
