I guess for 3 that would need to be knife edged but PBS cube combining is better due to overlap

If you just correct and PBS 2 nubm44's you will have a good 10+ watts, then an expander if you want.

People used to do triads with 7875's, or 2 blues and a green or maybe that new canned 470, but they were un corrected, the 7875 had a lot tighter divergence than the 44. But a pair of corrected 44's would be pretty tough, add an expander and :D That's on my list.

The pic is not mine but think about it with 2 corrected 44's and a corrected 470nm would be pretty tough if the dicro would bounce pas 450/470...but I hear a new green is on the way and it may be 2 or 3 watts, we can hope for more.

Did you see the density I got with just 1 corrected 44, with a dirty window even and a podo 3x?
A pair of corrected and cubed 44's with an expander could be pretty stout.

THIS DIODE IS ALSO 6X CORRECED.

I have all the optics needed to do it. PBS cubes, wave rotator plates and a bunch of other stuff. I need get some cylindrical lens pairs. I've been buying the stuff to build a serious multi diode laser. I ordered some TEC drivers also. I want to keep the diodes all as cool as possible for peak power. It think it would be possible to get close to 20 watts total output from 3 NUBM44/47 diodes.

I also just got a Jet 12x expander but it clips if you don't defocus the G2 quite a bit and that's still profitable but not nearly as much as if you corrected the wild diverging axis first, getting rid of all that clipping means a lot more useable power, an easy test is to see if your spot is round or a bar shape.

This 07e with the 12x at short range is making a tiny rectangle with the G2 defocused and it is sparky, that is it's much stronger than the round spot if not set up just right, but if corrected it would be super tiny and slice through the box.

My point is correct then combine, it's worth it, and then an expander for the win.

I'm still doing research and trying to see how I want to go about it.
This may be a dumb question but I'm wondering what would happen if you had the right beam expander. Like a larger industrial or lab type if you could find a broadband or 445nm AR coated one. I've seen a ton of different ones. Anyway if you had 3 or 4 diodes in a tight grouping with with G2 lens or 3 element lens going directly into the expander, would you be able to converge the beams into a focal point down field? Or is essential that the input beam be perfectly centered into the beam expander?

Alignment is critical of you get misshapen spots, but you could cheat it some, but multi mode beams un corrected would be a mess and likely clipped badly.

You could try big wide lenses of a low magnification factor.

That's pretty much what I thought. Have you looked at the expanders on eBay being sold from a Chinese supplier? They are the ones that say "the beam expander". They look like decent ones but they're all different and it's hard to tell what you would be getting. I may try getting one of those just to see what they do. I also saw some being sold by an Australian that are like 2 feet long. There are so many different ones but I bet some could be really good for what we do. I should probably ask these sellers some questions.

Yes I have seen them but have been afraid to buy knowing so little.

Alignment gets critical by the cube over distance so not knowing much about them it's hard to buy, the AR coatings look good.

I want to start building my own adjustable expanders, big ones, but all the lenses I buy are not AR coated and that's 10% loss each I think.

Yup AR is very important. I did a test to see how much loss you get using a 520nm lens and a 650nm lens on a 445nm diode and it's a pretty significant loss. Plus light boucle back is the fastest way to kill a diode.

NUBM44 450nm$80.00 each (new)

NUBM47 450nm $80.00 each (new)

A140 1.5 watt $15.00 each or 10x for $100.00

I have some X-WOSSEE 1-6 amp drivers w/ external potentiometers I am selling paired with either NUBM44 or NUBM47 diodes for an additional $40.00.

NOTE: All A140 diodes have been extracted from used equipment. All have been LPM tested to be sure they are still producing full output. I will replace any diode found to be defective.

I LOVE Vlad's (X-Wossee) green prototype driver!! Unfortunately ABarnett and I have the last of them. I cleaned him out recently.

I've requested him consider thinking about shrinking the board down since there are a relatively low amount of components, especially compared to his BlackBuck driver. I really would LOVE this driver to fit inside of Jordan's (DTR) 510 heat sink.

Did you notice peak current output for these drivers? I mentioned to you in another thread that Vlad states he has 10% headroom which would yield 6.6A max, but in reality they peak at 8 amps!

They run surprisingly cool in this upper range of 5A and up. Instead of using the aluminum 17x28 (or whatever it is) he recommends I like to use Cu pads to cover more surface area with Cu RAM sinks as the cherries on top - this works very well. I also like to go overboard and add copper and aluminum sinks on the inductor and IC, just to feel comfortable abusing my diodes.

Yeah they are awesome. And the 10k pot works like dream. From fully off to maximum of set range. They run very cool. He said the new chip is 98% efficient. I like how he stays on top of new technology. He's building two production version. Ones a basic model with fixed current and another with all the features of the green proto boards. Except they will also have thermal protection or low cutoff voltage for the battery. He's also using lowered profile parts. He said he got a bunch of the production boards in so now we are just waiting. I'm sure they will coming soon. As far as I know Myself, DTR and flaming Pyro are going to be getting them. I'm going to try running two NUBM44 diodes in series from one driver and see what happens.

I want to run a pair of 44's or 06's, still deciding what reaches out the best with on hand parts.

I wish the elusive 08e would pop out here in the wild, I would like to bag 1 for testing.

This is Tech hoods Skype name: techhoodlaser
If you buy direct and remove the eBay seller fee I bet they will sell it for $850.00. Maybe now would be good time to start a group buy. My biggest worry is its just another similar diode.
Heres a good tactic I think. If a few of us each inquire about buy one or two single diodes maybe we can inspire them to extract and sell singles. It's worth a try.

Lol,
I sent Caca at existotem (I think they are also techood) a message 30 mind ago asking for singles. Also, the last time there was some intrest on the 08e's, they jumped the price up
