As soon as you have, at least, your Master's Degree in an academic arena, I can give you referrals and recommendations

You are obviously a highly intelligent person.

Your second two statements above display both an uncanny grasp of reality and a willingness to help others  ;)

Peace,

like daguin said, $70 an hour sounds great but it doesn't matter if you work only a few hours a day

Re: daguin Holiday Clearance Sale

Hi Daguin,
i am pretty new to lasers so excuse me if i ask newbie questions.
i am seriously considering your #1 set of lasers.
question about the life of the aaa batteries as compared with other types of batteries such as cr2 or the 17670 battery? that is, is the life of the aaa better or do they get used up quicker than others?
secondly, does the flexdrive allow you to adjust the current?
third, do yours have a way to adjust focus distance?

thanks,

The combination of the flexdrive and three AAA's give a good long burn.  However, this is VERY much dependent on the quality of AAA's that you choose.  Unfortunately, I have not done a direct comparison of the different batteries so I cannot give you quantitative data.  Maybe someone else will jump in here.

The flexdrivew does allow for initial adjustment.  It is NOT designed to be continually adjusted.   Also, the lasers are NOT designed to allow easy access to the driver or module.  Simply unscrewing the bell from the front will damage the laser. One must follow a very specific series of steps to open them safely. The lasers are set at currents that will allow for long life AND burning ability.

The lasers both come with adjustable lenses in the AixiZ module.  They are easily adjustable to change the focal point of the beam.

Re: daguin Holiday Clearance Sale

thanks for the reply,
brings to mind a question of warranty and service, if it poops out a while from now from normal use, what would you want to repair it?

Barring signs of abuse or "adjustment", if something happens rather quickly (the first 30 days) I repair it for free. After that I repair it for cost plus shipping.

Thank you. One of the things I REALLY like doing is figuring out how to make a new host work. Many of my builds are rare or unique.

Peace,

I love how my first host the Kryton smooth has pretty much become undesireable compared to the Kryton Groove. 4 years down the road, I'll be able to show a progression of the Kryton host in a evolution just like man.

C'mon guys it's an opportunity to get a limited edition Kryton smooth laser barrel. Even if you keep the barrel and eventually kill the diode, you can rebuild it easily, and once the diode is out, contact me and I'll cut the threads better for a lens to thread better. Not to mention your buying it from a quality builder.

I in no way want to cut down jayrobs or anyone's heatsinks for the mxdl or other hosts. They are a great idea, However, they are in no way shape or form a direct comparision to the Kryton with it's SOLID aluminum head and diode press pocket. Your going to get better thermal transfer in the Kryton than you will in the heatsunk aixiz module. Especially since these heatsinks are not press fitted around the aixiz module. SO GET THE KRYTON FROM DAVID!!! shameless plug.

Having pride in your creative work is NOT shameless.

Besides getting a really good laser design, these are becoming increasingly more difficult to get. Once a Kryton Smooth is in a hobbyist's hands, they rarely leave again ;)

I have my personal one in my collection ;)

Peace,
dave
