Maglite is universally recognized and accepted as being of the most rugged, durable, and simplistic flashlights in the world. Unfortunately, Maglite is not know for its outstanding light output; just about 75 lumens. That is where I come into play.
What I have here to sell is a custom 900 lumen Maglite. consists of a P7 LED, custom lathed heatsink, custom driver, custom reflector etc. 900 lumens is about the same amount of light that is outputted from a standard car headlight. Runs on standard D cell batteries. Still retains its focus ability, and is still water resistant. From the outside it still looks like a regular Maglite, but packs a powerful punch.
The LED itself is called a P7. It is made by the company SSC. It produces 900 Lumens @ 10 watts. With an efficiency of 90 Lumen's per watt. Making it one of the brightest, and most efficient LED in the world. That is 4 times as efficient, and 12 times as bright as a typical
krypton bulb found in a standard Maglite.
Available in MOP reflector (Medium Orange Peel). It diffuses the light and makes the hotspot more spread out, witch is great for close quarters. With a standard smooth reflector, the hotspot is smaller and more intense, that is good for throw (long range light).
This Maglite is regulated using a custom driver w/ x8 7135 chips at a max output of 2800milliamps. I can set up your Maglite with either of the following mode sets (2D, 3D or 4D)for no extra charge:
*Modes can be changed linearly using the original switching mechanism when pressed fast.
Benifits of LED technology:
Finally, here are some pics with standard smooth reflectors
Here is a pic of the P7 in the Maglite with an MOP reflector
Here is a beamshot of a stock Maglite (left), compared to a P7 Maglite (right).
And here a beamshot of a P7 Maglite shined onto a house using an MOP reflector.
If you would like a color other than black, you can choose from any of the below colors or patterns.
.
I will try to get beamshot comparisons between all of the above flashlights. I can't hold onto these flashlights for more than a day before they have to be shipped off to the customer, so its hard for me to get them all together for a photo opp. I am currently in the process of sending all the above flashlights to Dave (Daguin) to be thoroughly reviewed. I'm looking for another highly reputable member of LPF to do another review. If you feel you meet qualifications, let me know.
PRICE:
$150 for 3D or 3C Maglite
$160 for 4D or 4C Maglite
$165 for 5D or 6D Maglite
KEY:
number = how many cells the Maglite requires
letter = type of battery
Example: 3D Maglite = Three D sized batteries.
---------------------
$15 for MOP reflector (SOLD OUT UNTIL SEPTEMBER)
$10 for "glow ring", $15 for two

--- All Maglites are custom hand made to order. I use 24 gauge Teflon coated wire. And P7 LED's are the most recent bin (DSWOI bin), and are properly heatsinked, and thermally managed using Arctic silver, and Arctic Alumina Epoxy. ---

*Modes can be changed linearly using the original switching mechanism when pressed fast.
Benifits of LED technology:
- Long life – These lights can last from 50,000 to 100,000 hours. Incandescent light bulbs typically last around 1,000 hours and fluorescents are good for roughly 10,000 hours.
- Rugged durability – LED lights have no fragile filament to contend with, and no fragile tube. They are resistant to heat, cold, and shock.
- Lumens per watt – While manufacturers are still finding new ways to increase this ratio, Cree Inc. has been able to produce an LED bulb that generates 160 lumens/watt. Today's available LEDs average around 50 lumens per watt. The P7 LED averages 90 per watt. Incandescent bulbs wander sadly in at about 15.
- Generates low heat - LED's generate far less heat than conventional incandescent bulbs. So much so that you can touch the LED after its been on for an hour.
- Compact size - This may not seem like a plus, but when the light is emitted from a tiny point, it can be focused more precisely. Allowing it to throw like a spotlight. And give a nice artifact-free pattern.
- Pure white - AllL ED's are capable of emitting pure white light. This P7 LED emits 6050K color temperature. For an LED, that is white. The P7 is also available in 6500K, (bluish tint).
