If I wanted a focusable green laser, but I really liked a certain non-focusable one, is there a universal beam expander I can buy? Any members here that sell beam expanders for any laser?

incase anyone was wondering I wanted to get the 200mW waterproof Rayfoss laser. Of course the beam expander won't be waterproof, and it's not like I'd need to focus for burning underwater lol:p

ah looks like I edited my post as you were typing.

It's the 200mW waterproof Rayfoss laser. And no I don't need to focus it underwater lol.

hmm... I'll draw a picture of what I have in mind:

I'm not exactly after a beam expander (although that would be nice if it were cheap), I just want an external focusing lens.

Here's something for ya mikeeey, that I resurrected from an old thread;

Anyone looking for plans on how to make your own DIY BEAM EXPANDER ?

Laser Pointer Range Extender

col1k.gif
Decreases beam spread of visible and infra red lasers by a factor of 7 at far field. Simple to construct, fits most laser pointers with simple shimming. Kit includes lenses and plans. Other parts are easily obtainable from your hardware store. COLMIN1 - Plans ............................Free Download
COLMIN1K - Lens Kit/Plans ........................$49.95

This is located in Information Unlimited - Science Projects, Electronics Kits, Lasers, Tesla Coils, High Voltage Engineering, Plans, Books, Parts, Kits I thought that maybe some adventurous soul would like to take a stab at this............rob

nice job resurrecting it! but you could have also resurrected it from post #5 by sandidgepatrick here in this thread LOL

I looked at the kit...but... well, to be honest the kit is my last choice.

Aren't there lens's that use 4 screws to stay tightly on, used for other things? such as cameras or telescopes?

ya know a simple telescope can be a beam expander. Principle is the same.

Also the oculars for microscopes and stereomicroscopes work as beam expanders or beam concentrators :)

or if you have binoculars unscrew one of the objective lens and use that

this is true but the eyepieces used in microscopy have the advantage that can be easy connected to a c-mount adapter

^^^ (in regards to not being able to find a mount on focuser)

edit: actually, I spoke with yobresal, and here's what he said about the laser:

it was total rubbish. Unless you mean the red one. The red one is good. Green was way underspec and terribly divergent.

so it looks like the 50mW is great, but the 200mW one isn't (unless he just got a bad one?) Still, it's not something I'm going to pay for and hope I get a good one. I'll keep on waiting for o-like's 200mW waterproof and focusable laser that Susie keeps telling me about.
