? m140s have a null case pin. You would have to put a solder blob into the neg pin hole to make it case "-" IIRC. or just use a pill type design with the "-" driver input wedged between the board and host.

Yeah, since when do we use the case pin on a M140. DTR cuts them off prior to selling them anyways

Only time I used it is to change to case positive for the e2 because the x switch changes it from case negative by soldering the case lead to the positive input on that specific driver.

Got big power from it too. Peaks at about 1.6w at 1.25a and stays surprisingly cool for about a minute. Not that I run it for that long. This is why I'm jumping all over these pens .

And 4 1 cells for a 405nm 500mw
638nm 500mw
520nm 250mw
445nm 1000mw
All boost driven.
I liked building my ms v3 set so much I think I'm going to do another with these!!

I think i got you confused. The "unused" pin on the M140 diode is the case pin, and is not connected to either of the other pins. I want to use this to pickup the ground from the case, so i dont have to use a wire.
So, i am wondering, can i do this with this host?
EDIT: Sorry guys i am actually using the new PL TB450 diode which HAS A CASE PIN. So ignore the M140 part.
My question is, can i use the case pin, or will there be anodizing in the host preventing this

You don't need to. Cut it off. The diode will pick up the ground just fine.

As long as your getting continuity from the tail cap to the pill you should be fine. Unless your doing like a fastech module where you eed continuity to the inside of the heatsink.
Your driver would need to have a positive or negative input for the case lead to be soldered to in order to make the case one way or another. But since that's not an issue with these builds ( I'm assuming) just having continuity to the pill should be fine,

Yup, I never made direct press hosts, I like the flexibility of a 12mm module which usually is copper so i dont see any need for this.
This is still TBD, as soon as the pre-sale ends payments will be requested.
