i sure am!

lol i couldn't think of a way to power a module while still having it in full view without it messing up the photo.....so i stuck an empty module into a heatsink and chined my laser into it......thats why the dots is coming out and hitting right behind the batteries lol

Hi there. I'm thinking about buying your 120mW blue ray kit. It would be my first laser. I just have a few quick questions.

-Is an IR filter included/needed for the 120mW kit? Would there be a risk of eye damage from using this laser without a filter?

-In one of WannaBurn's threads the laser being sold has the exact same module and lens as the kit, just with a different body. But the beam seems to be much more purple than the one on your website, which appears to be a dark blue. Is your camera just displaying the color incorrectly? Will it be as violet/bright/long as the picture in that thread I linked? Here is the picture specifically. I attached it. I cannot post the thread until I get 10 posts, sorry.

Just wondering. Thanks.

To answer your first question, no, an IR filter is not needed since the blu-ray 405nm diode this just that, a 405nm diode. *Blu-ray lasers are not DPSS, meaning that they don't use a pump IR diode, a frequency conversion crystal and a frequency doubler crystal like in 532nm green.

As for your second question i have not received my Blu-ray laser(tomorrow, hopefully ), so I cannot answer your question from experience. *What i can say though, based on member feedback and the apparent brightness curve that blu-ray laser light(405nm) it is very hard to see at a distance. *I belief that picture was taken with Wannaburn's 330mw, correct if wrong as im unsure. *A rough formula for visibility is: 4x increase in power leads to a 2x increase in visibility.

Mohrenberg is a great guy, and he makes great lasers( especially for us who are on a budget), so get ahead and try out that PHR laser *

Although i would really recommend the 250mw red as a starter laser, my first was the DX Dilda (and that has served me well, as to addict me to lasers :), if u read my "Custom Text" you'll know why ;D

LOL, I have many pics like that one, they all look the same after a while. In that one the beam will be fuller than a PHR as the diode is the LG GGW 6x diode and Jayrobs glass AR coated lens. The colour of the beam is closer than that of my other camera, which depicted it as more blue than anything.

The cam im using now does however show it brighter than what you see with the naked eye, but this will also varry from person to person.

The paralell beam can be achieved, but takes some fine adjustments, and has to be done at a distance. I take advantage of being on the top floor, and point at a white wall far off, the adjust the beam size. So what will seem like the best focal point at 100ft will not at 1000ft. This same rule seems to apply to red as well. Another trick to focus, is to point the laser straight up into the sky (When safe to do so) and adjust. This can be a bit dfifficult with 405nm though, it kinda helps if you have a distant target to minimize the dot size on. The 405 is just too fuzzy looking to get the best size easily. The whole beam seems blurry at 100+ft away, no matter how perfect you get it.

I hope you all don't mind me piping in here, I feel I have captured the color of the bluray beam very well, too many cameras show it as blue which it definately is not! *BTW, Mohrenberg builds very good units as well as does LikesIt Bright, Wannaburn, daguin, IgorT and others! btw, this pic was with a lot of fog at night!

I'm quite interested in one of the BR 120s.

Too many projects waiting for parts. Must make something work NOW!

Actually I think I'll just wait on the 100mW green kit. Think I'd prefer to start out with a green beam. Any chance of a 150mW kit? What would either (planned 100mW or a theoretical 150mW) kit run?
