it uses a 14500 battery and focuses easily. a coworker of mine may be buying that laser tomorrow though.

Re: Lots of lasers and laser stuff for sale

-$50.00 shipped. 100mW violet laser. Laser is from dealextreme in a transformable host.

I'd be interested to know the actual power of this laser - since I'd imagine it could be anywhere from 100mW down to 10. Any vague idea?

they are a little smaller than the cr2 batteries. they are exactly half the size of the AA batteries. I can include them with the laser but you will need a charger for them.

There's a quick way to figure out battery size numbers.
It's DD-LL-0, or Diameter, Length, trailing "0"

So:
14500 (AA) = 14mm diameter, 50mm length
14250 = 14mm diameter, 25mm length (so, as mentioned, half the length)

Going the other way around:
AAA batteries are 10mm diameter, 44mm length, thus called "10440"
CR2 batteries are 15mm diameter, 27mm in length, thus called "15270"

Or the other other way around:
We're all familiar with 18650's. Following convention, their dimension should be 18mm diameter, by 65mm length.
