Buying a LARGE tesla coil.

Hello friends!

Since I was unable to get help with my coil a few months back and I really do not have time to be fiddling around with making my own. I would like to take a coil off someone's hands. I understand not a lot of people are willing to part with their xoils and I know there HAS to be someone looking to get rid of one due to space issues :p. So here I am.

I'm looking for a fairly large coil. Preferably a coil capable of producing 2'+ arcs off 120V single phase. I would be interested in anything you have to offer really. I'm not going to be fussy.

If you guys need more specifies. Take a look at this thread. 4hv.org: Forums / Sale and Trade / Looking to buy/trade for a large Tesla coil.

Pictures are required.

Thanks!
Jeff

What's your budget? If you're looking to low-ball this, you'll have a hard time of it. I would want $1000s for mine, because I know how cool and unique they are.

For many that don't build their own, they don't know the science, and they don't understand the dangers. Two-foot arcs is lethal. These aren't the kinds of things you buy from people out of the back of a van or in a dark alley.

I guess a budget of 750$ would be my absolute max. 1000's would be out of the question.

I already understand that what I am looking for isn't exactly something someone is willing to dump out of the back of a van. However I'd be willing to take one nonetheless.

Perhaps I didn't clarify myself here that I have had experience of building high voltage stuff and whatnot. What you see in my avatar could just as easily kill you as a large Tesla coil. I was able to draw 12" arcs with my XRT in short durations due to not having the proper vacuum and dielectric oil.

As I write this I'm also writing another thread about a SGTC build. My electronics knowledge with silicon related stuff is very very dull so I couldn't relay build an efficient DRSST myself.

Besides 2' arcs isn't exactly hard to come by when I essentially have 20 or so more and a bunch of capacitors. Wouldn't be hard to get resonated deadly arcs at all.

You may have luck inheriting an unfinished one. That is how I have seen it done on a more economic scale. Someone begins buying parts, pays too much for some, and gives up before the project is done and wants to unload the lot.

But complete working models have such a high "oooh" and "ahhh" factor, they can get premium $$$$. I suspect your success rate will be highest watching 4HV for an opportunity.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat.

Look at the picture too. The coil looks nice, but that "guy?" is downright creepy. And why is it in a graveyard ...? Something is really weird here :p

Those look pretty good. Does it come with the mirrored cart? That's a turn-key setup if I ever saw one!

Edit:
 I just noticed. The picture was taken with the coil at a cemetery. And the listing description mentions paranormal activity.

Edit edit: Send him a question and ask if the listing is for both Tesla coils! ;)

The seller also has zero feedback. I would suggest only a face to face deal with this guy.

Yeah that guy is really creepy and then deal looks shady. I would buy it if I had cash in hand. I won't have cash till the 22 though. I had the same reaction as things when I seen his description. His videos are pure NONSENSE but he seems to think they aren't.

My point is there are Tesla coils around for well under my budget. If myast example was fail I'm sorry. Here's another. Its 175$ shipped to me if no else bids.

DRSSTC Dual Resonant Solid State Tesla Coil | eBay

Edit: and no. The auction is for the coil only. Probably not even the same one in the photo. Look at his other auctions.

Also, no one has spotted that those pictures look like VTTC discharges , don't you think?

They do look like vttc arcs. I think they could just be slow pulses through the coil for longer arcs?

You can get VTTC like arcs from a SSTC by adjusting the pulse repetition frequency :)

But that uniform? I doubt that, not in all the TC's I've built, but yeah suppose it is possible.

Anyways /thread_derail
