alot of people did it during the dutchLEM....but not sure it was 25m or 50.
if there would be quality issueses i guess they would also exist at 25m yes?

Well since it's analog it should be worse the further you get away from the source... It might be 100% fine, I don't know... There may have been a little bit of issues at 25m and it would be twice as bad at 50m... Or I may be completely wrong and 50m may work just fine.

Here ya go: Cables To Go - Search Results

Cheapest source I know of, it's where I get all of my cables. Quality is good but not incredible, I haven't had a single issue with anything I've used from cablestogo.com though which is why I recommend them. They've got up to 100 foot lengths for M/F DB-25 extension cables. Also (VERY important) search amazon.com for cables from cablestogo.. you can get the same stuff that they sell on cablestogo.com, but often at lower prices: http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Go-026...7RSN/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1323893826&sr=8-1

Regarding losses, the fact that the signals from proper ILDA DACs are differential helps keep losses to a minimum even across long runs. I haven't had any noticeable problem with losses running 100ft lengths.

Personally these days I use VNC software to wirelessly control laptops that are much closer to the projectors which eliminates the need for long runs of cable. The only lengthy cabling I run is for the emergency kill circuit.

i got my 50ft cable off ebay and it works fine. I wrote bill from pangolin about this very same questions and he suggested the long printer extension cable. I also asked about using USB extensions and he said that was not a good idea as there will be power loss on the USB cable which has adverse effects on the DAC.

Another option to purchasing a long ILDA cable is running the signal via 2 Cat5 cables.

Stanwax over at PL is manufacturing and selling adapters to do this:
New Stanwax Products

Here is his webstore as well: Stanwax Laser Professional Laser Display Hire and Parts Merseyside

It really seems to be an ingenious and relatively inexpensive way to run ILDA signals over long distances.
I ordered a set and am waiting for them to arrive. :D
