Hello
I've read multiple posts that I can get far better laser here (on LPF) for the same $$ than buying it from rayfoss/sky lasers/lazerer...

I'd like to know if someone can make green laser with the following specs:

532nm
200mW
IR filtered
18650 battery

I've seen that jayrob has some cool kits but since I'm new to this, I don't know how to assemble it all and make it into a laser. :)

My buget 150$

Thanks

You might have to compromise a little on it being exactly 200mW, but otherwise what you're looking for is very doable... Lasers are usually considered to be on spec if they are +/- 10% of advertised output.

Do you have safety goggles? If not you must get a pair if you want to try to burn.

I'm fully aware of the dangers, and that is why I want the laser to be IR filtered. I know it's not gonna be exactly 200mW, but that's ok. Safety first.

I'm gonna buy these Eagle Pair® 190-540nm Standard Laser Safety Goggles

btw, has anyone done a review on those glasses with green laser? I've seen a review for this model but only for a blue 1W I think.

Yup... that is a downside.

The thing is, you're not planning to burn with a green laser, you really don't need an IR filter.

In that case, get a 445nm laser. Those same goggles that you originally wanted and one of yobresal's 1.2W builds. Or the one from survival laser (Garoq has some nice deals on here for LPF members).

wow, 1.2W that's way to powerful, this will be my third laser. I'd like to take things at a slower rate :). Also survival laser don't have 532 nm, although they have very lovely hosts.

I think your best bet will be to order from lazerer.com and have them install an IR filter.

IR realistically, after IR filter, you're gonna be looking at ~150mW of pure green, hopefully more, but that's where you're likely to land.

That is enough to pop a balloon, cut black tape, light a match, etc..

Still, burning with a green laser is kind of like using a porsche to do grocery shopping imho.

EDIT: Scratch that, DTR is a MUCH better bet;)

Hahahahaha, nice analogy with the porsche :D

I like a green one because you can use it for star pointing as well as burning. And I'll be more than satisfied with lighting a match :)
