Default Buying a burning laser - im new

Hello
first to all my name is maor and im new on laserpointerforums.com
so i allways seen people that have a awsome lasers
i buy a green one that i buy from DX the 10$ 5MW
and i also buy one from ebay a laser with hige powered daytime beam 5MW for 0.06$ XD
and then i see a little videos about MAKEING a blueray laser
so i found one on ebay for 20$ i just plugged it to the battery and now the diode die i didnt know that i need a driver and etc.
so for the point:
i want to buy a laser that can burn things like matchs and pop a red ballon.
ive found that:
100mW 532nm Powerful Green Laser Pointer Pen - Focalprice.com
but many peoples said that bad one ...
i can spend 25$ MAX for an blue/green/red laser that can BURN
so there is some site that include a laser for 25$ or someone here that sell?
thanks and good day. Maor
and also im sorry for my bad english

Default Re: Buying a burning laser - im new

the cheapest you can get is this:

DealExtreme: $29.53 High-Power 200mW Red Laser Pen (Burns Match + Visible Beam Daytime)

Or this one (won't light matches, just poping balloons)

DealExtreme: $21.75 Focusable 100mW High Power Red Laser Pointer (2*CR2)

Keep in mind the cells for this lasers are so damn expensive, you better get a charger+batteries set. Cheapest option is this ebay item:

4 x CR2 3.6V Rechargeable Battery + CHARGER 3V ZZ8218 - eBay (item 170407673564 end time Dec-15-09 19:42:04 PST)

I highly recommend you to buy all the kit directly from here:

180~200mW Red laser/ adjustable foucus£*>5~200mw Red laser pointer£*>Laser&lighting products£*>www.0-like.com

Sorry, but there's no burning laser + batteries + charger at this price

this is not what we call burning here hehe. this just "stings" Also, he got a good unit, this lasers from focalprice or dealextreme are pretty random on power terms.

If you want a laser that burns, save up 45$ and you won't be disappointed. I ensure you if you want a burner with the focalprice unit you will be disappointed

I suggest you read thru the section "companies"
That will give you a idea of who is honest and who are scammers.
Most (not all, maybe 95%) of listings on eBay are underspec. (meaning their lasers won't do what they say they will)
And guarantees are meaningless. By the time you pay return shipping back and forth, you could have bought a on-spec. laser. And you will still end up with a crappy laser that might burn-out in hours or days.
With lasers (as anything else in life) you get what you pay for
For a good burner expect to pay a min. of $40 to $50 for 650nm (red) Higher for other colors.
As Hallucynogenyc said save up a little more and get one from a reputable company.

I just want to add something. This lasers I linked to are not "the expensive ones". they are "the cheapest ones". I wouldn't like you to think that you can't afford the expensive ones because in fact this ones are just the cheapest ones that work. Any burner under that just won't work.

This is for instance an expensive red burner:

Green Laser Pointer from Wicked Lasers - Spyder III Pro

Now you may reconsider if 200mW for 30$ is worth or not

Yours,
Albert

No really save up and get a nice burning one! With anything from 50-100$ you can make one that burns (or buy ready)
