How does this "Jack" character make his RPLs? Are they made in a factory, custom ordered by him? Or are they just bought off another company?
He's just a reseller. The lasers are made by Viasho.

Same as how Dragon Lasers and Nova Lasers are resellers for CNI, he's a reseller for Viasho. [/quote]

The difference comes in the "screening" and testing of the lasers he resells, as well as his customer support

Peace,
dave

A corporation does not shield you from anything if you are violating the law. You are personally liable for anything that happens if a product injures someone if it was sold them illegally. A corporate entity cannot, in and of itself, violate the law and cannot be held culpable in litigation when the actions of the corporation violate the law at the direction of a corporate director or officer. At that point, the corporate shield is pierced and the directors and officers can be exposed to litigation.

Actually I was reiterating your statement so it was crystal clear to KCSCOTT that building and selling or reselling non-compliant laser systems can open a huge can of worms if the wrong client gets hurt even if he incorporates.

I agree with Frothy. selling non FDA compliant lasers is dangerous and they are on the prowl. a customer of mine (who works for the US gov) showed me a letter sent out by the FDA asking people for websites that sell illegal lasers.

just FYI

hahahaha funny funny!! Look, what i meant by that was that Im completely capable of making a functional site. And im completely capable, of carrying an inventory of items, and keeping up with an online store. By the way im asking for help and ideas, and such, really dont need or appreciate your criticism, but whatever! Rocket ships...pshhh. anywho on another note Im just about talked out of saling assembled lasers, perhaps ill sell kits that have everything you need to build the d*** thing yourself. If im not building or selling non fda compliant lasers i shouldnt be breaking any laws?

So you'd pretty much be in direct competition with stonetek?

Well, competition is a healthy part of business.

We need some more online stores for buying laser parts from, some more variety. Make your prices competitive, but make sure your product is good, or else you will ultimately fail at getting business from this forum.

I suggest you take that route instead of the pre-built laser route.

Welcome to the forum!
I sincerely wish you the very best of luck with your web-site, I agree that there is more room for genuinely new products, I am interested to see your offerings.
As far as "teaming" up with existing "forum member-merchants", I prefer the "standard model" of business, more like I can sell you my products in quantities for a reduced-price, in turn you may resell them for a profit, no obligations, and vice-versa. If we both perform our role effectively, we will both do well, otherwise, well, natural selection my friend. I do not sell anything that any other forum-members sell, or anyone for that matter, in this way I can happily do whatever I can to promote other websites/sellers without worrying about competing, creating friends, not competitors. Even though I make heatsinks, I can openly state that Jayrob makes the very best MXDL-heat-sinks available, there is no competition here.
The group-buys are a lot of work, for no profit, (I actually loose-money by the end), but they are a great service to our community, an excellent way to build that reputation.
And of course, I too must mention, you want to make sure that all of your products are legal where you do business/sell to, the FDA is nothing to mess with, I never sell laser-units.
Hope to see you store soon,
DH

Default Re: Bringing up a new store

The FDA is the primary reason I don't traditionally sell fully functional lasers and came up with the Kryton laser barrels. *I'm not providing a laser to you. *I'm providing a Host. *Something that you can hang yourself with if your going to be stupid. *To the remainder of good honest and responsible owners, the Kryton is a great product to build a great laser.

I understand the desire to cash in on the laser market and a store is the obvious choice, but given the attention lasers have gotten in the news over the last 6 months to a year, it's just not a wise choice. *I liken our hobby as close to flashlight building and modding. *However with flashlights, you don't hear of someone being accused of being a terrorist by shining the flashlight at a plane and blinding the pilot. *Lasers are dangerous. *You cannot be 100% certain that your buyers are legit and responsible. *Thereby claiming responsibility upon yourself legally for anything illegal done with said laser. (boy don't that sound stupid)

Even selling a high powered laser to someone already in the united states from someone in the united states is illegal. *The FDA, like all government agencies, is there to protect us dumb cattle from hurting ourselves. *They set down the regulation to prevent us from getting hurt from irresponsible usage. *It, like all legislation, is a good idea on paper but takes away more civil liberties in the name of safety. *Reminds me of "I-robot" where to protect us from ourselves, the robots must make us prisoners and run our lives.

Enough of my soapbox ramblings about Gov. policies and civil liberties. *Essentially it comes down to this. *You make money selling components for lasers, sell them illegally under the radar, or make a product that is fully compliant with FDA regulations and take the time and money to file for assention #'s. *If you sell them illegally, you assume resposibility and have no-one to blame when the hammer falls. *Opening a store to sell them and shipping to the states is just plain dumb. (no offense)

very true. thanks for the support and i shall think about that. I need to get this up and running. I just wish i had money to invest in more inventory.... thats my largest set back. And getting the site up. I could already have it up, but whats the point if i havent got the inventory to keep it going. thats my only dilemma... but its still working out, just a little slower than id like
