Well that's as far as i go until the LPM tests are posted.
Not that i don't trust bhwollen, it just makes more sense to me... :yh:

I am not to worried, would be nice if it had a killer diode in it though.

Any way win or lose good luck

I will be seeing if I can meet up with steviedezie since he lives close to me and post the results tonight. Thanks for looking! :D

I'm already outbid :-( but maybe I'll bid again once you have test results. Definitely looking forward to it either way.

Damn I thought steviedezie had his lpm already. Turns out he doesn't... Anyone in the bay area has an LPM that would let me use it?

For what it's worth, you can probably expect a +/- of 15%. If that makes the difference for your bid, it's kind of silly. Really, whether this is 1,200 mW or 1,400 mW (or dead in the center) is almost inconsequential.

To be honest, I can't tell the difference between 900 and 1100, between 1300 and 1500, etc - either in "burning" or in visual brightness. When I got my LPM, I was shocked at which lasers metered over and which metered under what I expected.

Think about it this way - could you tell the difference between a 57 and a 63 mW green laser? I certainly couldn't - and that's a 10% difference right there. The same principal holds true at high powers. You can tell 1800 from 1200, but I would challenge anyone to pick out 1200 from 1300, etc. You're not going to end up with a 700mW laser here, and I'm sure if you did, BHWOLLEN would back you up.

I say bid, and be jolly - this is a cool laser at a great price - and it's going to beat the socks off an Arctic no matter what it meters at precisely. My $0.02.

Very true, and IMO ~$150 for a well built laser in the 1W range is very fair. I'm just being picky, because well... I'm picky :p

Also need to pay taxes and already spent too much on lasers this month

The ONLY THING rhd is, I personally had a 445 at 1.5A putting out 1.2W, and another member had one at 850mA outputting 300mW.

There ARE things that can go wrong. I'm not saying you said they couldn't, I'm just saying, weirder things than 1.3A outputting 1.1W have happened

And also, this is not to say bhwollens laser is not up to par or anytihng, i am stating that since he is waiting to LPM it, that he is making SURE that whoever buys it knows what they are getting. So that makes him a good seller. And i have mad respect for doing that.

Fair enough -

I think you WOULD notice if something you expected to output 1.5 was doing 1.2 - but I understand your comment - I'm 100% in support of LPMing everything.

I DO think sometimes we get carried away with +/- a few mW with 1W+ lasers

It works so you know its putting out at least close to what you set it at, i figure you can lose or gain 15% ish depending on driver temp, and 12-15% in the diode vid, when you buy a cpu they dont test the vid and tell you what it is :p

I do like that the maker to test it, but this mans kits are selling like hot fire so he must have done something right :p

Without an lpm I wouldn't be able to tell 1.2 from 1.5W
Maybe 2W from 1.5 or 1W

I don't know it would have to be a pretty crucial test for me at least
