Exclamation Argon's & Pulsed Laser's For Sale...

Have some items for sale here:

Item -- (Asking Price or Will Consider Best Offer)

1. Argon 2.7w HGM PC EDO Laser Model: E60-C-K03-2-02 -- ($600 +ship)
2. Argon 2.5w HGM PC EDO Laser Model: E60-A-K03-2-02 -- ($600 +ship)
3. Argon 2.4w HGM Spectrum Laser -- ($700 +ship)
4. HeNe Tube Only Powersupply exploded , Almost New, 10mw Uniphase Removed from Laserscope ($175 + Ship)
5. Cynosure PhotoGenica V Pulsed Dye Laser -- ($1200 +ship)
6. Possibly Laserscope 30watt (Unmodified, Washing Machine) -- ($3300 includes shipping)

*Note: These argon's are not made to run continuous only maybe ~30secs at a time like a duty cycle if you will, they are "CW" but "Long Pulsed" if that makes any sense?

(All were removed from a hospital, no one has "tampered" with anything)

Other Lasers and Various unneeded items (optics, shutters, mirrors, keyswitches) for sale, just message me for more info...

Pic's below in the attachments...

Pulsed Laser's will only be sold to qualified buyers, I don't want you hurting anyone or yourself, pulsed lasers and anything above about 10mw could really give you some serious eye and possibly skin damage too, again that all depends on the diameter of the beam & divergence etc < last rule applies to CW ONLY...

Thanks for the warning Cyparagon. Was a good read, I stopped after the 6th page though, it's getting late.

More like stupid ass people on PL... Who only know how to post FAIL pics & have an ego that is bigger then they can swallow... Like the one that posted the "warning" message.

If the size of their ego was expressed in numerical figures, it would be exponential... or maybe even an infinite figure...

And you thought LPF would be a good market for you? You do know that it is called Laser POINTER Forum, right? There are people here interested in lasers like this, but they are a minority

I guess we need to know what you consider a "qualified" buyer. We wouldn't want anyone here messing with anything over 10mW, now would we? They could possibly get some skin damage.

Also, what does "*Note: These argon's are not made to run continuous only maybe ~30secs at a time like a duty cycle if you will, they are "CW" but "Long Pulsed" if that makes any sense?" mean? Are you saying that these argon lasers can only be run for 30 seconds? Then what? Is it 30 on, 30 off, like a pointer? What do they do in between "burns"?

Do they work? if so, how about some "operating" spec's (not listed spec's).

Did you expect the members here to research your lasers based on the model numbers?

Peace,
dave

Dave, these lasers have short Brewster window stems, if you run them too long, you run the risk of burning the windows. They are designed for only a few seconds on/off.

Dave, this is to answer your tech question.

As far as HGM-PCs go, it depends on the model.

These are the pulsed ones.. EDO always means long pulsed. Just PC can mean cw or pulsed, depending on model and installed cooling and power supply.

They have either sealed mirrors or short stems, and the gas pressure is lowered for more peak power. The gas returns are big to allow running at low pressure. This does not bode well for CW operation, as the low pressure can rip the tube apart.

The older short stem ones can run cw, generally, if they have the 68B like oversized fins, but not if they have small fins. Perhaps a way to tell is the size of the resonator end plates. If its a big black anodized end plate like on a 68, and has brewsters, it can probably do CW. But CW at greatly reduced power, like 150-200 mW. It doesn't "quite" blow the brewsters off, but it does deposit bore dust on them at a alarming rate at higher powers because of the erosion caused by a lower tube pressure.

If it has a small like 3"x3" end plate and sealed mirrors, its pulsed.

The gas heats up and power falls off, because the gas returns are sized for low pressure and the gas gets hot. This starts about 15 seconds in. If the on board computer feels like it, you can run a quasi cw at low powers to 30-40 seconds. Then you need 15-30 seconds of cooldown. typical treatment times are .1 to 20 seconds in 1-2-5 steps. They either are air cooled or have glycol to air heat exchangers.

On the EDO version, the ignitor fires EACH time the doctor needs a pulse, the power ramps up, the shutter opens, treatment happens and then the tube winks out, unless your in the quasi CW mode, then it stays lit while the footpedal is down, until the computer says no or a thermal interlock kicks in. Its a pretty wicked ignitor and it almost never needs to pulse twice. The cathode stays lit, and is extra beefy so it can take the pulsing.

This was great for a doctor, runs 220 single or in some cases 110 and gets you 3.5 watts when new, down a fiber..

On a EDO, Your talking 25- 35 amps down a very short, very small tube that looks like one and a half 60X tubes sealed back to back. The key to this was get the pressure down , so the tube voltage drop was down, so you could run them single phase.

HGM was the parent company of American Laser.. Its founder, McMahan, was a friggen genius with plasma and switching power supplies. Sadly he flew his twin Beech into a mountain.

Other then that they are built like a brick outhouse.. Since they were last made in the late 90s and quite a few are still in service, you could say very, very well made.

HGM , after the CW high power models 5,8, and 20,,,used more model numbers then California has license plates, so only a tech truely knows what your looking at unless you fire it up.

I have a friend that services them and have seen a few select tubes do 4-5 watts long pulsed. 2.4 or 2.7 means they are middle of life and were pulled because the rules require a eye doctor to have 3.2 or so.. Other docs keep them to lower powers.

I don't have the sekret squirrel model number chart.

S.
