Extend the life of your diode with these.
Aluminum Press Fit Heat Sinks Compatible with standard 9mm Lenses
Whenever two materials are in contact they have a surface resistance to what is called Thermal contact conductance. With Resistance being a bad thing here you want the fewest number of materials contacting each other to transfer the heat from your laser diode into the air. Other factors that reduce thermal contact resistance and improve thermal conductivity are surface area and pressure. These press fit heat sinks are an easy and affordable way to provide great pressure and ensure all around surface contact directly from your diode to the heat sink then finally maximized surface area contacting the air around it with these deep grooves.
What you see here are two types heat sinks.
First we have my press fit heat sinks for excellent heat transfer. These are threaded for a standard 9mm .5 threaded collimating lens (commonly use in Aixiz and other moduals). For this price they are a steal.
Cost is only $15.00 + $2.00 shipping to the US and Canada. Lenses not included.
Next we have my drop in heat sinks for Aixiz modules. Your Aixiz module can be used to pinch the heat sink between the head and body of the module. I recommend using some heat sink compound between the module and the heat sink to maximize surface contact.

As you can see there are 2 ways to mount this heat sink. Head in or Head out. The picture to the left illustrates a short mount by cutting the threaded portion off the Aixiz body and using it as a nut.

with a few easy mods.
First I trim the body down just before the threads.
Next I bend the end of the inner spring to make contact with the exposed metal.
The spring actualy goes on the other way around. This view is just to shows the bend.
Lastly I used https://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.7882 to drive a PHR_803T Blu Ray diode with the 3 AAA batteries. Simply connect the negative lead from the diode directly to common and it will bypass the Hi/Med/Lo/Strobe flashlight modes. Not sure how stable this driver will be so if you want a sure thing you can always use a more tested driver. If it proves itself a good solution over time I will add it to the kit. Until then I'm selling the host and heat sinks only.
