Anything you recommend as a beamstop? So, 1W of 532nm is starting to become so powerful that it will literally start to etch into the walls? Yikes.

I would recommend something simple like a cinderblock or brick. Yes, a 1W laser will definitely burn some holes in the walls if you aren't careful.

How about the 2.5W 532 model that is selling for $1,200? Im debating wether to pick that one up or the 1W for $566. Which do you guys recommend for a better value?
I know 532 is around 1mW/$1 but not so sure with labbys.
Edit: 2.5W of 532 would most likely require even more precautions!

Well it's not different precautions then with any other high powered laser. Can't keep it in one place on anything valuable. I usually use my 3 watt 445 in a tripod with a red brick as the beam stop when experimenting.

I just purchased the 2.5W 532nm MGL-F-532 unit. I have purchased Eagle Pair goggles and will need to be very careful of operating this unit. Will aluminum work as a beamstop? Or must it be a large piece of metal?

Aluminum is fine. The best think you could probably do is make a box of aluminum and drill a hole for the beam to enter, perhaps an inch or two wide. That way most of the reflection is contained. Congrats on the purchase.

A beam block or beam trap should be of a flat black color, for no reflection. you can make one from a cardboard boxer 1/4 inch luan plywood as large as you want to fit on a bench or table. The entrance hole should be about 2 inches, on the inside back wall tape on heavy duty aluminum foil and spray it flat back hi heat grill paint and you can spray the inside of the box with that same paint. The bottom of the box is open so you can place it over the ophir head. Or you can buy one from Thor Labs under beam blocks.

Hap, I used a 10" wide tube that they use to set a post in cement and its I think about 3' long and with rubber silicone capped it with a 12"x12" ceramic bathroom tile with the under side that isn't glazed spray painted flat black. The tile also keeps it from rolling.
All this was at my local Ace Hardware. It does really help with room glow and absorbs the dot pretty well.
