"Yay! and God said to Abraham, 'you will kill your son, Issak', and Abraham said,
'I can't hear you, you'll have to speak into the microphone.'
'Oh I'm sorry, Is this better? Check, check, check... Jerry, pull the high end out, I'm still getting some hiss back here.'"

Avoiding studying for your midterms, eh?

Peace,
dave

That is exactly it. I'm so screwed.

Here's the thing, I was a good student before I got into this hobby. My GPA is high from the last two semesters, which will make up for this one :)

still lots of work though :banghead:

Will those diodes be shipped via Daguin hand mail to Glenn?

Regardless of which of these two VIPs ship them, I would highly recommend sending them in two separate shipments, a few days apart... .

I don't want to even imagine the anguish here if the one package gets stuck in postal red tape (or otherwise)...

OH MY GOD! you want to CROSS the BEAMS?!?!!eleven!!!1!?

oh, well, could be fun, i'm up for that! :)

manuel

I wanted to see if it would make the air sizzle.. Or at least create ozone.. Just kidding, but it would make a good cigarette lighter..

The point is it makes the crossing stand out, as if a pixel was created in mid air...

Problem is, to perfectly cross 6 of them takes it's time, and i don't want to try with 11, cos i could need 30 minutes especially since i then take 50 photos from different angles, to make sure some good are among them.

Igor, did that air pixel get metered? Or did you just add the powers of the four lasers?

It could get metered, but the power would be lower than calculated, since it took me a while to align the lasers (and not even perfectly in this case - made a better Air-Pixel with half the power once - attached) an then take multiple photos of the beams to make sure some are good, so they warmed up in the meanwhile..

But if i had a combined remote switch for all of them, i could meter the number i calculated, yes.

P.S. This is the old Air-Pixel i was referring to. Somehow it stood out more in that case.

Traveller, no worries, Glenn and i have established shipping protocols perfect for our Anal customs..

You see, the thing is, they just don't like going into a big fat book of customs declarations codes (different for each item type), they like it when things are kept simple. They are happy when they can just put "electronic samples" into their records, and forget about it...

So "Photo Diode - SAMPLE - $0.29" works every time for diodes...
Just like "Optocoupler - SALVAGED - $3" works for sleds.. Especially if the total is always kept below $27 or so...

Altho i should probably prepare the invoice for this package myself...

Good to know, Igor! However, that was only half of my concern. The other half is the amount of "hops" this GB is taking, I mean from Bryce to Dave, from Dave to Glenn, from Glenn to you... and you know I've been around long enough that I've come across a few "turned up six months later" threads...

I'm not out to scare anyone, was just thinking of the ol' idiom, "don't put all of your eggs in one basket" (or the updated version thereof: "don't put all of your savings in the same Ponzi scheme...)

Let's face it, you can't even insure them... :undecided:

We are using USPS Express here.. Works like a charm and is very fast (5-7 days).. :yh:
It's only $24 and well worth it, i use it often when Glenn or Dave send diodes to me, even if it's a much smaller value.

Unfortunatelly there is no such option in the other direction, the cheapest Express i can do is $75 or more.. :undecided:

Oh, and BTW, Glenn did manage to ensure a package with a $23 declared value for $100 or more once! :D
The customs didn't notice it...

The main worry i used to have was how would our customs interpret $23 worth of contents sent with a $24 shipping method.
But apparently, as long as the invoice is pretty enough, they don't care...

EDIT: Otherwise, there is no need for Glenn to be sending the package, if i email the invoice to Dave...

One less hop = better ping times = less lag = more frags.

Er... wait a min., wrong context / forum... :p

Well, even tho our customs do go online to check if the prices on invoices are correct :)thinking:), they unfortunatelly don't go as far as to play Counter Strike - Capture The Package against you and the sender, to decide if they will release your package or not...
