Up for sale is my monster burning laser, the 60w 808nm.
The diode has probably less than an hour on it since I bought it.
Rated at 3.5v 60-90 amps, I have never run it at more than 75 amps.

The front lens is spotless, no soot, dirt, or scratches.
Laser diode contains an internal thermistor for temperature monitoring.
Take a cheap thermistor based thermometer and chop off the outdoor sensor. Wire it to the diode for an easy temperature readout :)

Diode: $180
Shipping: $8 in the USA

Sorry, but do you know for a fact it's 808nm?
I had similar diodes that fail to produce more then a few photons of green from a composite green crystal.

This diode is not for pumping DPSS crystals. It was sold to me as 808nm, but I cannot verify the wavelength.

The laser emits a wide stripe, which has a focal point about 4 inches away from the aperture. The stripe does not focus to a point though, it focuses to a line. Great for burning, terrible for trying to pump a crystal. From what I've heard they were originally designed for platesetting and the wavelength tends to be longer than 808nm. Pumping cold coolant through the diode may reduce the wavlength enough, or it might not.

That is some serious burning power there. Why does the line look somewhat purple in the video, could that be just the camera?

Yeah, cameras tend to see IR as pink or white, my camera has an IR filter on it, but the power of the laser was too much for it to handle :san:

You should make another video with your new camera, and burn more stuff :eg:

These are 835nm, not 808nm. It is fine as a burning laser, but not as a pump laser.

You forgot to mention water cooling requirements!

A PC watercooling kit should work though.

Just a pump and a small reservoir is sufficient. The diode really doesn't generate all that much heat.

I would hope that anyone buying this diode will know what they're getting into.

Smell that?
I love the smell of plastic in the morning!

I sure hope you did that in your garage. :poke:

I might be interested, but I don't have much in cash at the moment. I can offer you a trade for a selection of the following items:

  • PHR sleds (I have 15+, IIRC)
  • Kryton Groove with "BDR-F03" diode
  • Dorcy Jr Full-Body V1 H/S PHR-803T build @ around 85mW
  • New-style Dorcy host (see the Dorcy GB thread)
  • Full-Body V2 Dorcy H/S
  • (Possibly for trade, maybe not) Scientech 365 LPM with 5W thermal sensor
  • A selection of flexdrives in various states of working-ness

Let me know if there's anything you'd be interested in. If not, I'll probably be listing bits of this for sale.
Do you have any spare I/R goggles? Also, I'd need the PSU modified for 240v, is it as simple as changing the windings on the PSU transformer?

Due to the linear design of the PSU I had thrown together, 240v operation would require a new variac and rewound microwave oven transformer. The primaries on these are 120v only. You'd be better off building your own PSU at that point - I can provide assistance if you want to do that.

I don't have an extra pair of goggles to sell with the laser, sorry.

Let me know if you're still interested in buying/trading for it.
