What runtimes are you experiencing with the pointers? I had one fresh AAA energizer and it practically went empty in one hour, i thought the laser failed then inserting a new battery, the beam was like BANG 1000x more intensive :)
I am interested in red ones also if you manage to get them :p

What duty cycle do you recommend?

I haven´t tested a single one for a full batteryrun, but I expected something like half an hour. Great news that they least an hour on one AAA :)

I´ll tell you when I get my hands on good ones :evil:

I have a red keychain WITH star cap right now. It hasn´t a totally round dot at higher distance, but it is also definitely has a wavelength nearer to the visible spectrum. I did tests with my diffraction grating compared to the 642nm pointer and a 650-660nm pointer I have, it is nearer to the 642nm one. The average output is 52mW with the stock battery, don´t know the output with a better battery cause I wait for the DX batts delivery.

If you´re interested, I´m asking $20 with standard shipping or $22 shipped priority.

Got the first two star cap key chain points I ordered. I am currently very pleased with both Im almost regretting offering to sell one to a friend :p

I'll be making a good review later but here's something I have found
The gold DX battery sent with mine was less effective than AAA "Walgreens" brand that I had lying around.

Also when i first turned on the pointer no green came out but i was to see a small faint red dot when i pointed it very close to a wall. Eventually it would phase into a green dot but it doesn't do that anymore. Any ideas why?

Only thing i didnt like about these keychain is I almost broke the chain while trying to get the battery cap open, ill have to be more careful from now.

The red light is the IR. If the environment temperature is to cold, it only outputs IR. Warm it up and it outputs the full power.

one thing i have found is that energizer lithiums are significantly better than alkaline batteries and last last significantly longer.
