Ive recieved a few PM's regarding a post I made for a nifty little tool I use. Its a hollow brass press tool which when used with a regular pair of vice grips, smoothly presses a 5.6mm diode into an Axiz module with ease.

They are made of soft brass, and are delicate. I mention this as they will malform if care isnt taken when used. The tool will accomidate up to 1inch long wires attached to the pins.

The 3 pins (when not bent together) are gripped by the tool which allows for the diode to be held in place during pressing. This makes for less fumbling and reduces the chance of dropping the diode during mounting.

Ive pressed just under 200 diodes with the same tool, and am still using the first one I made. ;)

Im selling them for $10. US shipped anywhere.

wow i dont think even with the phr sales ive done that ive pressed that many diodes. i might be interested in one though. the only downside is that its brass. i think id want something a little more solid than that. right now im using a c clamp and a bit holder from a cheap chinese screwdriver i had and it works great but its made out of softer metal too and its starting to deform a little... :-/
 
Can we have some pics of the diode fully pressed into the case?
I might need one, because i have a tool sort of like that, but i do not know if it fully presses into the case.
 
I use the softer metal which is a little less harsh on the the soft alloy diode. If you make an error in lining the diode up to the Axiz module, you will be less likely to bend the diode with a softer press tool. Ive tried this with steel as well, but found that more diodes got damaged. I suppose I could make them in steel as well, but would still recomend the brass.

Ill work on the steel and just give the choice to any buyers :)

I dont have any off hand, but they press tight and flush to the module everytime for me. Otherwise I wouldnt use it.
 
I have already spent waaaaay too much on this new hobby of mine. Want to send me one for free? 8-)
 
You can just as easily go to your local ace hardware store and purchase an aluminum ferrule/cable stop for $1.50 or so.  They aren't as long but work just as well.  If you cut a exit for the wires on the side you can still use it for the diode.

Not that I'm saying yours don't work or that they aren't good.
 
To remove fried diodes from AIXIZ modules, use a .22 caliber brass empty ;) They work GREAT ;) :) :P & they are REAL CHEAP, like FREE?????? Check your local shooting range ;)

Im sure there are many alternatives, im offering only because of the intrest expressed via pm's. If im going to make some for other members, id rather get an idea of how many I may need to make. I sell these off and on in my ebay listings, but because they take too much time to make, its not a steadily carried item.

The way these are put together, was done with the Axiz module and 5.6mm diodes in mind. As for removing diodes, the only ones ive removed are dead diodes or 5mW stock diodes. In either case I just bang those out with a nail or equivelent.

I will bring an Axiz module with me, and see if there is something suitable for removing diodes as well. But it is doubtful that a press and removal tool will be a two in one option. If anything I may offer a set of both tools per purchase.

If there will be a 2-in-1 tool for $10, then i will buy it.
Like both insertion and removal tool :)
 
I have one of these... and I prefer the softer Brass to something harder...
I don't damage the soft metal of the LD when being seated.

I had an 18" telescopic radio Antenna that I took apart and one of the
sections had an Inside Diameter to fit over the 5.6mm LD...
I use that section to remove the LDs. It fits nicely between the LD lens hat
and the Aixiz module... and pushes on the LD's Mounting flange..
