Hey guy's...

So I am new to this site but have had an interest in laser's for quite some time. I am in the market for a 400-600mw and had some question's, I figured what better place to ask then here.

First, I have done some looking around and the price difference between 400 and 600mw is about 1,000. Do you think 200 more mw is worth the money? I also have been looking around and the best I can find is on Tech Lasers, has anyone here ordered and have feedback on them? I didn't know if you guy's had a personal favorite site you could recommend. I'm also struggling with the decision of going with the Titan (on sale) or the what seems to be much smaller one, the Crossfire.

Anyway, thanks in advance. I haven't had the bug in a while and then I came to find this site. All I can think about now is getting a real laser. I remember growing up I got in trouble for trying to build one with my dad's very expensive camera (took it apart for the lenses), now to be able to get a real one... let's just say life is pretty good! :)

If you going to buy a laser that powerful, be sure to buy a Grade A pair of 532nm safety goggles.

just do a search for techlasers, and i think it should make itself fairly apparent as to this forum's opinion of techlasers.

Most people here do NOT like tech lasers. They seem to be unreliable. I would go with

w w w .optotronics . com.

The quality is top notch.

If you are looking for a reliable top class handheld laser in the 400-600mw range, then there is only one choice. The Hercules from Laserglow.

http://www.laserglow.com/index.php?hercules

Forget Techlasers, you will be wasting your money. A Techlaser may briefly peak at that power, but a Hercules will hold that power and is tested for 20 minutes constant on time. It achieves this with quality N light 2.5 watt pump diodes and superior crystal sets that are not over saturated and are made to handle the power.

Hope this helps.

Thank you guys!

I think I will go with the Optotronics 400mw. Laserglow is a bit on the pricy side for me.

I would agree with tallaxo on this one. If given the choice between optoelectronics and laserglow. LASERGLOW WINS!!! hands down every time. Now don't get me wrong. this is not to say that I dont' think opto's products are worthless. certainly far from it. my choice will always be laserglow between the 2. Just a personal opinion. :)

I can wrangle you a good deal on a 400mW RPL equivalent if you're interested - already sent you a PM on that. I agree with Ken - in terms of just brute strength and reliability, I'd prefer a laserglow over an optotronics unit. The opto RPLs have their perks though, and the price is something you can't argue with. If I had unlimited money, I'd go with laserglow. On a budget though I think I gotta lean towards opto since they're products are still top tier at a much more appealing price.
