Where are you located and what file formats
can you accept?

Also, how do you determine trade value? IE, it's pretty easy to figure out the trade value of most laser related items (based on common forum-standard sources), but how will you quantify the price of a certain 3D print / set of prints ?

The costs are based upon printing time. I have a makerbot replicator 2. File format needs to be .stl
I am in western NY. The easiest way for me to determine trade value would be if someone wanted something printed I would look at the stl file and determine price to time and material. Then we could go from there.

I'm interested in having something printed. Perhaps I can draw something up. Essentially what I need is a small handwheel about 1.5 inches in diameter that can mount to a shaft via set-screw?

I assume print time is dependent upon volume? I'm just trying to get a rough estimate on cost.

I think that's the reason this thread isn't getting more attention - there's no indication, ever rough, of pricing. Many people aren't going to jump into designing an stl file without some ballpark idea of whether the part they're thinking of making is a $5 or $50 job.

IMO, you should provide your pricing model.

Exactly, although making an STL file of what I want will probably take me 10 minutes. It's not a hugely complex part.

Sounds fair enough guys. I will be charging $1.50 per gram of the final printed design. Plus shipping to you. This covers print time and the cost of the material. I think that is pretty reasonable to be honest.

Ok, but what's the density of a solid (not honeycombed) print? I've no idea what the volume of a gram of ABS or PLA is. It needs to be calculated on a volume basis, not by weight.
