Is it just Me? I get the feeling that a majority of NEW members joining, and then trying to buy a high power Laser are too young & immature to own one.

Before price range forced it on to older people or the 1 spoiled brat that gets everything, now it's more easy for them to buy one.

Sadly it will probably cost us in terms of laws once they start doing stupid stuff with them...."I am referencing to the "a airplane I can point a laser at" Thread a few days ago.:wtf:

Yep! I wish there were a way to filter out the riff raff. Unfortunately there is no way to tell who is going to have a "Dumbass Attack", and shine one of these at an airplane or vehicle.

I concur that these droves of uneducated, immature, and reckless KIDS/ADULTS will stir up way to much attention to Our hobby! The crackdown has only just begun, and will continue until having a Laser >5mw is outright illegal!

its anyones hobby that wants it to be but yes --- rather than condescend and pontificate, let's promote a paradigm of education and awareness for responsible laser operation ...

@heirophant - Good point - after all I wandered in off the turnip a few months ago just wanting a laser I could burn stuff with, and this forum was able to provide that and teach me enough about safety to keep from blinding myself or setting the neighbors cat on fire.

@ TeufelWolf: Most of Us have wandered in off the streets, and I'm not advocating any sort of ban on ownership of high powered lasers. I'm just concerned about the consequences to Our hobby that a few immature or irresponsible individuals will cause.

It's our job to educate and help make them understand. All tho I do also agree that no matter how much you warn and tell "Some" people, there still a idiot...

EDIT: Sorry for taking the thread off topic.
