This is the first single mode 450nm laser I have built. I LOVE this diode. It has got an amazingly tight beam, great divergence, and a beautiful color that is absolutely different from the other 445nm diodes. The beam does not have the violet tint to it that the 445nm lasers do. Now perhaps I was comparing a low wavelength 5.6mm didoe and this is a high wavelength 450nm 3.8mm diode but the difference to me was night and day.
Here are the specs for this build:
Diode: Osram 450nm 3.8mm
Output: 180mW Stable as can be (highest measured output was 192mW)
Driver: 250mA buck driver
Lens: 3 element glass
Focus: Adjustable with focus adapter and internal spring for tension
Heatsink: Aluminum anodized blue
Module: Anthot 3.8mm module with diode thermal epoxy encased into it
Power supply: 2X 16340 rechargeable lithiums (included)
Host: Unmarked S4 from Survival Lasers
Duty cycle: NONE
Price: $140 shipped (add $5 for charger)
