So I have a 12X sled with the smoc diode still in it as well as everything else aside from the 405nm diode.
$15 shipped....I will also include 5 flat red laser diodes from 10X sleds.

Tempting...tempting...Well, since I'm no longer buying that camera, I guess I'll buy this. How strong are the flat reds? And...since they're flat, I'll need to try to find somewhere on this forum HOW to even house em. How powerful is the 'smoc' diode? I'm quite interested!

Jayrob did some work on how to mount the flat diodes in the standard AixiZ module. I can't find the thread right now. Get hold of him if you can't find it via the search either.

I think it was SightFX that was machining the modules for the SmOC diodes. Hemlock Mike also had some adapters he made

IUs SMOC small open cap? And Sm is small? I could only think of that or small medium open cap...which made no sence >.> I will look further into these diodes, I REALLY want this deal, but I'll see if I can use them.

@Rob, did you want the sled, or the 5 extra diodes?

I was hoping to get a smoc diode to play with.

Sm does mean small - they are 3.8mm IIrc

Well, since I don't have a housing for it, I guess I could give it to you. Do you want it for power testing? Or do you have a way of housing it? I wish I could keep it, because I believe it's got a bit of a punch to it, but alas, I can't use it :cryyy:

They are 3.7mm and if anyone needs a copper direct press heatsink I will make them one for $15.00
you will be able to direct press the diode in one side and screw a lens in the other side, it will look very much like the head of a Aixiz module only no threads for the back casing/shell.

That's for the SmOC right? Damn...now I'm tempted to keep it >.<

I don't know, there's a good chance I'll let you have it, I atleast want the sled...more optics to add to my collection :D. So far I have optics from these sleds: PHR, GGW, and I'm about to have LPC, this will add BDR....

@ Flamin
Is the heatsink thing you can make for it, Jayrob compatable? I.E. Can I use it in his kits? Because if I need to pay some guy on here $80 to make a host for this diode, rather than $45 for a Jaytob kit....I might let Rob have it. HOWEVER there is that 'Yeah, I have a limited host WITH a highly unused diode!' kinda special feel with it...

Yeah, the SmOC is yours, all I really wanted were the flat reds ;) One more question about em though, I found a good bit on them, but they all mentioned that they were from 8x sleds. Are these the same, just from a 10x? (i.e. they used same diode in both drivers)

Jayrobs testing, plus modified housing:
http://laserpointerforums.com/f50/flat-red-mount-modified-aixiz-module-easy-49550.html

Larry's testing:
http://laserpointerforums.com/f50/flat-red-laser-diode-testing-2nd-phase-47044.html

Pretty sure they are the same thing. They appear to be identical.

The diode appears to be the same. However, the heat sinks are different on the two drives. I sent one from the 10X to Jay. Contact him to see if his modification of the aixiz for the red from the 8X will also work for the red from the 10X

Peace,
dave
