Default 100W HID Spotlight - Price Reduced $150

Hello everyone,

I have been gone for a while but I built this crazy spotlight awhile ago and it's time for a new project.

The light was a Thor with 130w halogen. The halogen was under powered and not very impressive. I removed all the internals and replaced the bulb with a 100W HID and managed to fit the Ballast and the 12v battery in the host as well! HID is much more efficient so it puts out a lot more light and the battery lasts longer! It is a very slick build as 99.9% of people would think it's stock before turning it on. I spent a lot of time making it all fit and getting the beam adjusted for maximum throw!

This photo is no where near what the beam looks like in person but it is the best I could get with my phone.

It's really ungodly bright and can light up anything that is within sight range. The beam looks like one of those search lights they put outside of clubs and events. I would hold onto it but I have my eye on a speaker project and teaching part time while finishing my PhD doesn't pay well.

Specs:
100W HID (10,000 lumen potential though it is likely a bit less)
2 7Ah SLA batteries in parallel (I make sure to keep them charged)
Huge (this thing is huge)
Copper heatsink

Includes:
Wall charger
Car charger
Shoulder strap
Bragging rights (Owning one of the brightest single emitter portable lights in the world)

$150 + shipping (I have to get a quote)

Thanks all

***UPDATED PHOTOS***

XML T6 Flashlight

100W HID

These beam shots are better but still don't do it justice.

The answer is a complicated "yes absolutely". Candlepower is an outdated misleading measure that spotlight manufacturers use to hype their weak products. Lumens is much more useful as a measure of light output. I'd ignore any rating in candlepower.

To give you an idea high end luxury cars have 35W HID headlights that (as we all know) are seriously bright. This is 100W of HID.

Lumens are also not a perfect measure by themselves alone, it's just how much light is being produced. A rating cd rating to .25lux (moonlight) is also usually now given by most good manufacturers.

With a 100W HID, you're probably looking at around 6000-7000 lumens (guesstimate) and at least 500kcd.

Flashlight/spotlight ratings are always iffy but what I can say unequivocally is that this light is the brightest light you can get your hands on with very few exceptions. There is a short arc light I saw someone made but you are looking at a nearing if not beyond $1000 if you could even find/build one.

This makes an XML look like a maglight. I'll post some more pictures tonight when it gets dark. It's just hard to show it with a cell phone camera and that's all I use.

I can light up a whole water tower that's probably a half mile away no problem. The beam while your holding it looks amazing.

The maximum an XML2 (3,4?) dedome can reach is around 650kcd, with around 1800 lumens, with a reflector. HID's have a much nicer beam profile imo though.

There are newer LEDs out there, the XHP50, and 70 for example. XHP50 dedome can be pushed to produce around 4000 lumens iirc, and hit about 500kcd.

Don't think it goes unnoticed

Frankly I'm surprised Android 6/chrome mobile, also still hasn't implemented an auto re-size feature. Not having any issues using the forum on my shield tablet, but still not quite as good as on a regular pc, since I can't select additional elements to block.

Here is a quick clip of the light on a water tower. It can light it up from much further distances as I mentioned earlier but for the purposes of the video there are trees that get in the way.

The good stuff will come tonight or tomorrow when I post pictures of this light compared to others.

I have a 75W HID that is super bright but it's also very hard to be on the receiving end of my 1000lm PT-54 green Phlatlight and running one of my PT-121 green ones at what should be 5000lm is just way too much. Can't imagine running all 3 of the green 121 at the same time although I could. They are a project that I've had sitting around for awhile.
Pretty cool how you managed to stuff everything together in a packaged unit. +REP and good luck on the sale.

very nice beamshots and it looks like a throw monster but the sla batteries are a huge turn off for me. Iv never had good luck with those batteries.

if it had a lithuim or nimh battery id buy it no problem
