I have a 1,000mW 638nm laser here I just built. It uses the 500mW Mit$ubi$hi diode. It also uses the G2 lens. It is running at 1.4A buck driven and uses a single 18650 IMR battery. It is very bright and very powerful. The spot looks like Crap as to be expected with these diodes. A big divergent line with some splash. I was able to capture it pretty well in one of the photos. See below..... If you are able to get past the spot and want a nice bright A$$ red laser then this is the one. Of course you could try using different lenses. I think Lazerer has one that does a pretty decent job at making it look better. Just cuts out some power.
Oh yeah it uses a copper direct pressed heatsink so it stays cool for a nice 2 minute duty cycle.
Price is $250 shipped with battery and charger.
