hey guys, from what I have been able to gather from the 6 drives i've taken apart so far is that all the ones with parts #X810225 has the higher power diode. The sled is the PHR-803T that has been mentioned several times. I will bring my camera to the lab tomorrow and try to get some pictures of the other drives just to confirm this. I will take a picture of the drive I got for myself as well. I have another 10 drives to take apart so I will work on taking some pictures of the process. Finals start next week so I don't know how much I will get done this week, but I will be harvesting at least a few diodes to run a max current/power test as well as a lifetime test at 80% of max current. I have to build a test base first to log the time since it could be on the order of days. I also have to make up some heatsinks as well. I'll track down the numbers off the drives I can find and post them as soon as I do. I think my professor bought all the remaining drives from one of the best buys here in tucson and we may buy the ones at the other as well so we could get some good data out of these. Hopefully tomorrow I will have some max value data.

so here is a picture of my own drive. I think it is all the parts number. My version number is the 000 instead of the 100 and it was made in may-07.

Mine was a DT0811 pulled from a XBOX360 add on HD-DVD drive from Best Buy for $49.99. The sled only had the BR and a IR diode.

I also have a sled on order from PSX-BOY and will report back. It might be the same sled.

I am getting 25mW at the moment, current to be updated soon. I know it's stable as I used the heck out of it yesterday. :D

25mW is not bad for the "weak" one (DT0811).

The good ones are in PHR-803T, which is what PSX-BOY is supposed to be selling. I guess we'll know for sure soon enough, as daguin is getting two from there any day now.

What's the most anyone has got from the DT0811?

Good question. Did you read this thread: http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1204080284?

And what are you driving your's with, that you don't know the current?[/quote]
I am using the lavadrive. I took a chance that this was one of the "good" diodes and cranked the dial up until I got 25mW out. I need an assistant to assist with the current measurement as I can't hold the leads on the tiny SM resistor and look away long enough to see the DMM. :D I may solder some needles to my DMM probes to assist me in this. ;)

that's the good one. also the drive rev. # is 000, which so far has corresponded to having the PHR-803T pickup.
