Nail polish remover is something like 10% acetone, along with a lot of conditioners and vitamins and crap... I would *NOT* use something like that on a lens.

Most hardware stores (even some drug stores) carry 99% acetone, which dissolves things MUCH better... I think I'll give that a shot, soaking it in the acetone overnight so it gets all the internal lenses... Failing that, I have some trichloroethylene that I can try.. which is a crazy industrial solvent that can dissolve just about anything. I can also try using some 99% isopropanol, but I really doubt that'll do anything.

I should be able to post results in a day or two.
 
ok so what is a safe ma to drive it with to have 2-3 hour life.I would use washers as a heat sink.
 
2-3 hours life is really low... that's like saying I want to buy a car that will drive me to the nearest store.. then die.

I think laser diodes are rated for some 10,000 hours in ideal conditions.

I'll be running mine at about 80-90mA when I get them... reading this thread it sounds like that's a pretty safe current.
 
does anyone have a clear acrylic dx lens that they wouldnt mind selling me. i really dont feel like waiting the 3 weeks to get it from dx
