Why did my GGW-H20L fry?

I didn't run that diode for an hour straight, maybe 25 minutes, over the course of an hour, I never noticed any heat in the module or anything...

I pulled the LCC 16x red diode out of the sled my GGW-H20L came in and it's working great. I notice, It seems harder to look at a 650nm dot than a 405nm one of the same wattage. I couldn't find any information on this diode, so I'm running it at 245ma I'm assuming it's specs are similar to the 20x 815 red diode which can handle 350ma. Is that an okay current? I don't want to fry another diode, that's for sure!

BTW, you can shut up about the bench thing, that's ridiculous. It's a couple of logs someone nailed together at the end of the private community where I live, people etch messages in it with their keys every morning. You may keep trying to tinder a flame war with me or whatever you think you're trying to do, maybe you missed the sarcasm in my last post, or maybe you just like hunting for moral flaws in people, I actually don't care. It's not only ridiculous, but it's not the topic of this thread and I'm not going to take it any further.

Not a matter of hunting for moral flaws, just pointing out that your actions can affect others, (namely us!). But I'm sure you know that already.

I tried using the search button with the letters, "LCC". I found loads of info about them. There's even some info in a post in this thread which may have prompted you to look in your GGW sled. But I guess that's off topic for this thread too.

Are you still running the RCKSTR at 12.5V? It must run pretty hot. You'll probably have more luck burning things with the driver than with the laser! Are you still using your circa 150mW LCC without eye protection?

Believe it, or not, these things are said to educate, (admittedly with a little sarcasm but we can move past that can't we?). You will end up throwing good money after bad if you don't research. There really is no reason not to know roughly what a LCC is capable of. I don't normally get shirty but please take the hints. They are for your benefit.

Howdy YAG maby if you had mentioned it was a private bench (as none of us here can see you) there would have never been anything said about you burning public property, as we are only interested in what you do that can effect us and laser use in general, can you understand that ?
And no one is trying to tinder any flame war, again your words only ! bammy
I don't realy care what kind of flaw you my have just as long as it dosn't effect the use of my laser ;)
Have a good day !

LOL none of you have ever carved your name in a bench or something similar? be honest. Granted I havent done it since I was a teenager I dont think its a big of a deal as it has been made here. It is illegal but im pretty sure it isnt a crime punishable by prison or castration.

KiLLrB, what you say may well be true and it is a point well made but if I'd've told someone about it, then I should expect someone to reprimand me for it.

I didn't mean it to become such an issue either so I respectfully retract my remarks in order for us all to get along.

Fair enough?

Let the thread continue, (or not, as the case may be...)

Howdy KiLLrB hope you are doing good today ;)
You are probly right about that incarceration or castration thing
and yea I have carved my name on a tree once with my girlfriends name below it but that was before there was portable lasers
it's not the specific act that bothers me it's the fact someone dose something in public that would bring a bad name to lasers period, it's not just YAG I have nothing personal aginst him, it's any one that would act irresponsible esp in public with a laser and jeopardize the public use of lasers ! for me or any one else. Like I said befor if I had known he was on private propeerty I would never have brought up the subject, as a matter of fact I didn't bring it up someone else did, so I must not be in this boat alone !
You have a fine day KiLLrB we'll type at you later pal ;)

I totally agree with the dont ruin it for other laserists and regardless of whether or not it was done on a private bench (someone still paid good money for it) this was posted on a public thread soooo with that being said it was kinda irresponsable to set a bad example for others new to the laser hobby. Lesson leaned i hope OP;)

Hey, I fixed that RKCSTR driver that was outputting 980ma, the solder on those two shunt caps that are close together had bridged, I just resoldered it, and it works fine.

And that battery I use has a nominal voltage of 11.1v it was at 12.5 when I first charged it and hooked it up, now it has dropped down to 11.1, so I think I'm safe.

I posted this video on an RC forum a while back, YouTube - Parkzone T-28 firing dual D12 rockets and a tutorial on how to do it.
I got dozens of emails asking me to take it down from these goofballs who thought it was their duty to defend the reputation/legality of RC or something. I just laughed and told them all where to stick it! LOL! :)
This situation is starting to remind me of that.

If you think missile launching RC aircraft is dangerous, check out spudfiles.com, it will set all your illogical safety/legality concerns straight.

I hastily reinstate my hastily retracted remarks!

I think you might've just lost KiLLrB. And you were doing so well.

Wait...

I didn't mean to offend anyone...

Is anyone offended? I'm sorry if you're offended, that it was not my intention.

The only thing that should make you guys rally up as you did is if I posted something like this: LiveLeak.com - Puppy Thrown - Iraq

And said HEY guess what I did last weekend?! LOL!

Noone here seems to get my odd humor... Oh well.

Why are you guys out to get me? What do you think I ever did to you? It's not like I'm the guy who was on here earlier asking for tips on frying people's skin and vaporizing animals. You sure seemed eager to help him out! LOL! Even I wouldn't support that!

However I may have wounded a poor defenseless log bench and for that I am terribly sorry... I also must admit to torturing a CD case on my desk a few minutes ago. That poor CD case. No wonder you've lost your faith in humanity!
