I have been really anxious to find a video of an 8x bluray, but I can't find any...
Can someone give me some youtube links thanks, sam

i think he uses the flex drive v4. but the rkcstr will work as well as the ddl driver

Nope, I use a custom lm1117t based driver, which is basically the same as the DDL driver, but uses the same regulator chip as the rkcstr driver.

All our common drivers will "work" for the 8x, the only issue being once you get an 8x above around 300mA it'll require more voltage than the rkcstr and lava drivers will provide. You can hack a rkcstr driver to accept more voltage by bypassing the mofset on the board, though you'll lose the reverse-polarity protection you'd normally have. I'm not sure if the v4 of the lavadrive offers more voltage or not, IIRC the tests daguin did were based on the v3 driver.

Gosh I would be too nervous to work with an 8x... lol PHR's are cheap and they don't scare me I mean that by, soldering, pressing them in heatsinks. I'd probably mess up and be out of 200 dollars.
