Sorry to hear about your loss, John.

I'm just glad nothing like this has ever happened to me.

I glad I've never lost a diode because I unscrewed the wrong part of the host and twisted off the pins, or made a cold joint on a pin that lost contact and then reconnected, or wired the wrong wire to ground, or left the laser on too long, or punched a perfectly good diode out of a module because I forgot that when the batteries drop to a certain level the driver will shut off the power, or decided to push it just a little bit farther, or forgot that the Senkat diode doesn't run at 420mA, or shorted a driver out on a module, or tried to power an 0811 at the same level as an 803t, or dropped a warm laser when it was on, or got the diode started crooked in the module when pressing it in, or slipped and "smacked" a diode while removing it from the heat sink, or dropped an open can so it landed on its "face" breaking the wires.

Yep. Just glad nothing like that has ever happened to me.

Peace,
dave

Yeah it sucks when all that happens at once! I just hate that.

I did Exactly the same thing. I didn't have a good solder joint to my RCKSTR driver and it pulled away from one of the pins just enough to break then make contact. I triple checked my next build and it has been running fine for a month or so. I'm going to build another one 'cause its freakin obsessive making things that glow in the dark light up big time.
