i use aaa nimh batteries SANYO TRUE 1000mah from focalprice. they have a ogod voltage. full chjarge about 1.4... then... stau well at 1.29...1.28... and SLOWLY decrease untill 1.21 volt and my 30mg green seems alltime same power...

The driver Neil is using will shut off if the voltage drops below 2.0v. Lithium batteries also have a considerable life compared to alk and nimh batteries.

hi cust11 i have just hooked up my phone battery (3.7v fully charged) and same problem.. all solders are fine and im pretty sure there are no solder bridges.. the diode gets hot when power is supplied but no beam is visible.. also i have checked with a digital cammera.. and no ir beam or dot is visible either.. what else could be the problem... i have not done a test load tho.. but it looked about right when i was using the laser.. i will test it any way.. any more suggestions?

If I am reading this correctly then your driver is not getting hot, but the diode is. Which tells me it is getting its "normal use voltage". I hate to think it but the diode might be toast. They go out in all sorts of different ways. My previous PHR-803T turned into a dim LED before it finally just stopped working, although that doesn't mean that every PHR diode will LED before death.

Look at it this way.. It is most likely the cheapest thing to replace! :yh:

ok no problems thats fine with me i just dont wanna buy a new diode and find that, that was not the problem.. i think i will buy this 405nm PHR-803T Blu Ray Diode in Aixiz Laser Module Housing [PHR-803T in Aixiz module] - $21.04 : High Tech DealZ, Simplifying the LASER Hobby! then try again..

I am glad that you haven't let this experience discourage your hobby! I suppose the good thing about the PHRs is the price. I am all out of ideas for troubleshooting so unless someone else chimes in and manages to fix the problem, I think this is the correct approach.

thats 7.4v isnt that too much for a flexdrive v4 approx 5.5v max.. or do you suggect only using one battery?

Flexdrive is 5.5V max above that you need some kind of item to drop the voltage to go down to 5.5V.
